Hi I'm Danny! I'm travelling around the world! Please Follow me

After yesterdays trip to the perfectly blue caves of the Gruta do Lago Azul we all wanted to visit somewhere where we could get back into the water. Of course Bonito offers lots of opportunities for this.
We decided to go underwater cave diving in Abismo. To get into the cave required abseiling down 70 metres. You are immediately struck by the size of the cave as it opens out.

Once in the cave the you notice the weird and eery atmosphere, an almost alien structure of stalactites and stalagmites.
The pool itself is 80 metres deep. In this environment you can hear a pin drop.

It was about ten years since I'd taken my open water PADI course and to be quite honest I couldn't really remember what I was doing. Once in the cave we got into our kit and descended into the water. At the start I couldn't get the hang of the buoyancy but after a while I got used to it. There were animal bones and all sorts of weird things at the bottom of the cave.
Underwater cave diving is incredibly sketchy! It's different to the coral reef dives I've done in the past because it's so incredibly dark.

After a half day in the cave we did a tour on a dinghy before abseiling back out.

Here's a video that gives you a better idea of the cave dive
