Life Update: I Will Probably Be Out for A Week [11 Photos]

Looking forward to a brighter future; bringing with me the memories I have with the people who matter.

Hello steemians!

Since the implementation of HF21/22, I have been consistently (more or less) sharing my Quests which also served as my diary and a repository of my memories. I observed that my posts have been receiving decent rewards after HF21/22, so I made sure that I maintain the level of quality that I desire to achieve. It usually takes two days to upload a post. That's a minimum for me since I don't want to upload a mediocre post.

I have been working on my next travel post and I'm on my photo editing stage, but they're not yet done. I don't want to rush things so I just take it in a pace that I am comfortable with. But then something happened.

I have to go home to the province because my grandmother, on my father's side, died last Saturday. I will be there for two days. I have to go back here in Cebu on Wednesday because I have a flight to Davao on Thursday.

Regarding my grandmother's death, I don't mourn. Instead I celebrate her life by cherishing the memories I have with her. She have lived a long life so there's nothing to be sad about. She was 89 and I think she wanted to rest already. I want to be there for a proper send off.

No matter how long or short our lives are, I think it's about having good memories with our loved ones. I can say that I'm the most favorite "apo" among us siblings. I remember when we were still with her in the province, she would always allocate more food for me than my younger siblings. She has been part of my elementary years as she was the one who taught me about math. I love math because of her which is why I ended up in engineering.

I have a lot of things to say about her, but I guess I have to keep this short. I just realized that I should be more invested in making memories more than material things. I should look forward and move forward to the brighter future bringing with me the memories of my loved ones who rooted for me. I can say that my Lola has been very proud of me so I know she will be happy with whatever decision I make in life.

The reason why I'll be out for a week is that after my grandmother's funeral, I will fly to Davao for my first major climb. It was initially Mt. Apo (highest in the Philippines), but due to the recent earthquake in Mindanao, the trail was closed. The group decided to traverse Mt. Kalatungan - Mt. Wiji in Bukidnon.

I'm not sure if I can post this week after this or not. I'll be back on Monday next week so it's possible that I will be updating my blog next week.

In the meantime, let me share with you what I've been working on. See you in the next travel series!

More about this on my next post.

This post is dedicated to my late grandmother. Rest in peace, La!

Welcome to Kim's small corner in the Steem blockchain. He is a chemical engineer by profession, but a blogger by passion. He is a wanderlust and an adventure seeker. Join his quests as he visits secluded destinations, climbs mountains, tries new and exotic dishes, and explores his country (The Philippines) and the rest of the world (it will just follow since he's still a poor, corporate slave with tons of bills to pay and two siblings to support in college).
