January Recap - Highlights Of The Month

Hello guys! It's been a while!

It's the last day of January and I only made one post this month! My inspiration went downhill these past two months, every time I think of sharing something I always have this feeling that it's not interesting/good enough and I give up before giving a post a proper chance to form itself. It happened last night as well when I started writing this one but I am determined to finish and publish it today. I don't really know where this is coming from, one of reasons might be my desire to create something more meaningful on this platform rather than just sharing random posts, even though I enjoyed doing that so far.

With that being said, I wanted to share a few things from this month that made it fun and memorable or just some thoughts that were on my mind lately. In no particular order, let's start:

My new plants

Even though I didn't get them this month but a little bit earlier, I am happy that they are still alive and doing well. :) We always had house plants but this is first time I have them in my room and taking care of them. First, I took only one but then I decided to "adopt" another one and now I want more! I would also like to get some nice pots since the current ones are a little bit scratched and stained.

I have zero knowledge about house plants, I don't know their names, how they should be taken care off but somehow I managed to keep these two in good shape and there has been a few new leaves on each so that was kind of exciting! I don't know if it's weird to name plants (I guess it is) but I had to give them names and since this winter is my "movie phase", I named the plants after two actors that I really like - Gerard (Gerard Butler) and James (James McAvoy). Silly, I know!

Bad habit

One of the worst habits I have is drinking (black) coffee first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach. I know I'm not the only one but previous health issues and years of this bad habit should be my wake up call. In the past, I did try to break this habit but my determination wasn't strong enough. This month I had breakfast before coffee two-three times which is really not something I'm proud of. So in February, starting tomorrow, I want to put my focus on this as part of my monthly goals - I will write about this in another post. On this picture you can see one of my favorite breakfast options - oatmeal with fruit on top. I have an idea of taking a photo of my breakfast every day, break it down to weekly posts and share them with you guys. I feel like this would motivate me, I just hope I won't forget to snap a photo in the morning. :)

What I've been watching this winter

Like I mentioned, this winter I am watching a lot of movies and the way I usually do it is by chosing an actor that I like and watch his movies that I think would be interesting, mostly based on trailers or short description of the movie. So I went through Jude Law and James McAvoy phase then I found out about the TV series called "Vikings" and oh boy, it's one of my favorite TV series ever! I still haven't seen the last episode from this season that came out yesterday, I might watch it after publishing this post. Anyways, if you're watching Viking, let me know who's your favorite character. Mine is Floki! :D

Last Friday I also went to the cinema to watch James McAvoy's new movie "Glass" and it was my first time watching a movie in 4D. It was cool but I don't think these other movies better for all the 4D effects, I guess horror would be the best choice, but I hate horror movies so I'm not sure if I'll be brave enough for that. However, I did like the movie and I think James did an incredible job with his role of a person with 23 different personalities.

Cold winter days

This winter we had a few harsh snowfalls and recently the last one happened so my cinema night was quite challenging since I had to go to the city and back home through the snowstorm (if that's even a thing/proper term). That's part of the reason why I spent a lot of evenings at home, wrapped up in a blanket, wathcing movies and with that comes a lot of binge eating so I feel like a sloth this winter and I can't wait for Zumba to come back, probably next Thursday. I am sooo excited even though I am completely out of shape.

#tenyearschallenge

If you're on Instagram, you might have noticed a trend that has been all over this Social media and it's called #tenyearchallenge or #tenyearschallenge. I'm not sure who started it but I thought it was fun. I have all my photos organized by years on my laptop so I took a look at 2009 and found a photo taken on the 29th of September 2009 and put it side by side with the one taken on the 7th of January 2019! I guess the biggest difference is my hair, eyebrows and the way I did my makeup. :D

Dance classes

Another thing that I want to mention as part of this month's experience was the Open day at the dance school where I got to try out a few different dance styles. In February the new season starts so this was the opportunity for everyone who is interested to try out all the dance styles they offer for free. Six dance styles are: kizomba, bachata, salsa, tango, all-dance and reggaeton. A good friend of mine is already a member of the reggaeton group so we went together to this event that lasted from 7 until 11:15pm with short breaks of course. I got to try kizomba, bachata, salsa and reggaeton and really enjoyed it. Everything except for reggaeton are dances with partners which kind of made me nervous a little bit but that was gone after a few minutes since everyone was so nice and friendly. Unfortunately, I won't start any of the groups since I will go back to Zumba and financing both would be too much for me at the moment but I hope I'll join them in the near future as I would love to learn more of each of these dance styles.

And that's a wrap for this month! I said in my last post or the one before that I will try to be more active here. I guess I really have to work on finding some source of inspiration so I can write posts more often, as I used to before. I hope you're all doing well and if you would like to, let me know what were the highlights of this month in your life.
