Monochrome Monday

Intentional Camera Movement ~ or Panning.

It's a real passion for me. I don't know who else likes this kind of photography. I like it because you can never quite get a perfect shot. The challenge is to try to get better.

You may have to open these full-screen to appreciate the full effect.

It's simple in theory. Just set the shutter speed to 1/30th or 1/20 and turn with the subject trying to match the speed. I like to keep the persons head under my focus point, and turn smoothly while clicking the shutter.

The idea is to blur the background while getting as much as possible of the subject in focus. You'll never get everything.

Above - only the man's face is in focus. I call him The Road Warrior

It's funny how the mirror and door handle are quite sharp and clear while other parts of the car are not quite. I think the driver was moving his head to the music.

All photos taken by me with an Olympus E-M5MarkII camera. Hope you enjoy these images. Thanks for taking a look!
