MONOMAD - On a roof top

DSC_53.JPG

The photo was taken on top of the «roof» of the Oslo Opera House (Norway). This is one of the most visitid places in the center of Oslo, the capital of Norway. The Opera House is the main stage for the Norwegian Opera and Ballet, designed by the architectural firm Snøhetta AS, who won the architectural competition for the new building in 2000. It's usually prohibited to walk on the roofs of public buildings. But this does not apply to the Oslo Opera House. In fact, the roof has become an attraction in it self. The exterior of the building is clad with Carrara marble. Artists who have been responsible for the details on the marble have designed small elevations, inclines that collect water and various surfaces in the marble. Provides a very special touch to the building. The roof is flat making it possible to walk all over and to enjoy the view of the city and the harbour. The glass reflects both a ship and the buildings on the opposite side.
