“Me see Jamaican moon above, It won't be long me see me love”
song ~ “Louie, Louie”
artist ~ The Kingsmen
Louie, Louie, oh no, I said, we gotta go
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, I said
Louie, Louie, oh baby, I said, we gotta go

A fine little girl, she waits for me
Me catch a ship across the sea
Me sail that ship all alone
Me never think how I'll make it home
Louie, Louie, no, no, no, no, no, I said, we gotta go
Oh no, I said
Louie, Louie, oh baby, I said, we gotta go
Three nights and days, I sail the sea
I think of girl constantly
On that ship, I dream she there
I smell the rose in her hair
Louie, Louie, oh no, I said, we gotta go
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I said
Louie, Louie, oh baby, I said, we gotta go
Okay, let's give it to 'em, right now!
Me see
Me see Jamaican moon above
It won't be long, me see me love
Me take her in my arms, and then
I tell her, I'll never leave again
Louie, Louie, oh no, I said, we gotta go
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I said
Louie, Louie, oh baby, I said, we gotta go
I said we gotta go now
Let's get on outta here
Let's go!

The garbled, indecipherable lyrics of “Louie, Louie” have long perplexed singers, lyricists, poets, pop fans, students of literature, and language teachers – as well as guardians of law, order, and decency such as FBI agents.
If It Sounds Bad, It’s Probably the Worst

Written in 1955, “Louie, Louie” became a hit in 1963, when The Kingsmen covered it. Since hardly anyone could determine what the singer was babbling about, concerned parents naturally assumed the worst.
One father went so far as to write to Bobby Kennedy, the Attorney General at the time, which led to an FBI investigation.
But even after listening to the song for months, FBI agents were unable to decipher most of the lyrics. Apparently they even tried slowing it down and speeding it up, but the lyrics remained “indecipherable at any speed." Eventually, the FBI just gave up.
An Insignificant Little Mistake
The only actual (although inadvertent) obscenity comes at the 0:54 mark. After the drummer dropped his drumstick, he exclaimed “Fuck!” – audible to anyone listening closely enough. Unless you’re an FBI agent.
DIY Lyrics
“Louie, Louie” has been covered by soul singers, surf bands, hard-core punk bands, and many musicians of various other genres. Since most singers could not decipher the lyrics, many of them just made up their own lyrics or just mumbled their own nonsensical “lyrics” – which were often as unclear as the lyrics in The Kingsmen’s version.
