This intense song contrasts the feelings of desire and depression.

Intense and painful

With its heartfelt lyrics and impassioned vocals, the song’s intensity comes through in both the lyrics and the delivery. Amy Ray said that it was a “love song,”   but added that it was about a “very, very dangerous”   kind of “obsessive-compulsive love.”   

That becomes quite clear she intones the following lyrics …
I am intense, I am in need, I am in pain, I am in love.
And it becomes quite disturbing when we hear her repeat those lyrics over and over again, in a disquieting whisper. 

No longer live
