Blurred Lines - A Musical Foray

Okay, I'm used to finding new songs that I like from doing these forays. Today, however, I've found a vile song that I absolutely hate and hope to never hear the original again! I'm not a huge feminist, but these guys behave like some of the villains in my books...

Here is the original. Warning! This is NOT family friendly!!! (And I've grabbed the friendlier version.)

Blurred Lines - by Robin Thicke featuring T.I. Pharrell

Can we just make women into sex objects any more??? For all the progress our culture has made, these guys take about 10 steps back! And what is with the stupid hashtag constantly anyway?

I found this song so vile that I could not bring myself to include a cover today - the song should be consigned to the annals of musical fails.

Here's a parody champion who I never feature because they are usually pretty vile - but today, I decided they couldn't possibly any worse than the original and was treated to a very good critique of the original song. Note: Still not family friendly!

Blurred Lines Parody by Bart Baker

Again, I generally don't like these parodies because they're usually so crass. But in this case, they were saying most of the things I was already saying watching the original video.

Several people gave responses to the original. Here was my favorite of the replies.

Blurred Lines - the Reply by Rosalind Pearl

This Brit (I think) is spot on when it comes to her response. The arrogant narcissists who wrote the original (and think they're the gods gifts to women) need putting in their place and this reply works pretty well, I think.

Now for something... different... or lighter, anyway.

Doctor Who - Time Lines - presented by TripleThreatProdux

Okay, maybe not the greatest vocals in the world, but it's sweet, and any Whovian out there will probably appreciate this one.

I was more impressed after I watched the original video because I realized that these guys actually did a pretty good job of mimicking the original, so full marks there.

Today's WTF Selection

Okay, nothing truly made me say WTF other than the original today, but this mother is just cute!

(I hate these) Clothes lines

She's fairly quiet, and her lyrics sometimes stray a little away from her theme, but I really did enjoy it. I admit getting a little distracted looking at the very obviously British features to her house, so I'm guessing that she's filming from the UK somewhere.

Grand Finalé

We return to the King of Parody for this one - and one of the reasons I subjected myself to this song in the first place...

Word Crimes by Weird Al Yankovic

What can I say? The King of Parody always has excellent lyrics, excellent vocals and excellent videos! This one is for the grammar nazi in any of us! (Though, Al, a couple of your points are simply O.C.D. - and not in the good way - but I do use the Oxford comma.)

That's it for today! I hope you had as much fun as I did!

As usual, I'm simply sharing YouTube videos on a theme, all rights remain with the original.
