"Time" (cough, cough) for another musical foray!
Today, I decided to go with a theme rather than a tune - partly because there are so many gems out there playing tribute to Doctor Who, and they don't always happen with songs where I can find other parodies I wish to cover. Then, there's the bonus gem I conclude this post with - which is something quite different.
First up...
Doctor Who Parody by the Hillywood Show!
Done to the tune of "Time Warp" this one just seems like a natural thing to do. Honestly, this isn't my favorite song, but I love what Hillywood do with it!
Holding Out for the Doctor by Dana Marie
Her vocals aren't the best, perhaps, but the song itself is well done, and the video is interesting. I'd love to see more oomph behind the voice, then we could have a real cracker of a piece. I will be checking out more of her work though - maybe for future forays.
Hey Missy by Legs Nose Robinson
Again, not the best vocals, and the balancing could be better, but the song is a lot of fun and was an obvious thing to do for the Mistress... especially when it was mentioned in the show.
I'll definitely watch it a few times.
Through time - by Not Literally
I featured this previously in the "Good Time" foray, but this one is so good that it's worth the revisit. I love their vocals and videos and am saddened by the fact they don't seem to be very active right now.
The Fall of Silence - by korbs42
First of all, I'm stunned this thing has less than 1000 view being up since 2016! The vocals are very good - using the Disturbed version of Sound of Silence. Lyrics are good, video good as well. At some point, I'll refeature it when I look at Sound of Silence as there are lots of interesting covers/parodies out there.
Doctor Who-oo! - (Duck Tales Parody) by Axis of Awesome
Okay, I expected to hate this one! But it's extremely well done, and totally appropriate for a theme song. In short, I really like it!
Bonus selection for the day (and the reason I did this theme today):
The Ballad of Russell and Julie from Doctor Who Online
This is a wonderful song featuring John Barrowman (on piano), Catherine Tate and David Tennant, portraying the story of the revamping of Doctor Who.
If you are a Whovian, I can almost guarantee this will become one of your favorites!
