Try - A Musical Foray

I love this song. It challenges the world view of ourselves. We live in a demanding world where only perfection (in image) will do. Yet, none of us live up to it, not even those who give us the image to begin with!

First up... the Original

Try - by Colbie Caillat

This is such a powerful song and video. It took a long time before I could watch it without tearing up.

Perhaps this is why I've found very few parodies (though there are some obvious ones I can think of...) Lots of people have tried to cover it though. Here are the best I could find today.

Try - presented by Erin Kirby

This girl could use some love on your YouTube page. She has a natural voice and charm, despite some of the unfriendly comments on her page. She comes at this from the innocent child point of view - an even more important audience for this message.

Try - presented by Emma Jane

After a couple of weak notes, she really makes this song her own with her unique voice and style. She deserves a lot more views than she has at the moment!

Today's WTF selection!

Try - rock cover - presented by Soundgoat Project

Turning the tables just a little here... (which is why it's the WTF selection) - but it reminds us that this message isn't just for the women.

Good piece of music in its own right - worth a watch.

A Mashup!

Pretty Hurts/Try/Who You Are - presented by Louisa Wendorff

She puts the basic message of Try along with other similar songs to make a very powerful message of her own. It might not be the most obvious of mashups, but I think it works.

My only parody of the day!

Try - presented by San Manuel Teachers

Considering these guys didn't make the parody to make money, but to give a message to their students, I think they've done an awesome job!

I'd love to see them redo this with the help of some film/theater students, but it's great enough to enjoy at it is - and maybe this one could spread as a challenge to other schools.

That's it for today! I hope you had as much fun as I did!

As usual, I'm simply sharing YouTube videos on a theme, all rights remain with the original.
