First up... the Original

Although I've heard the song before (and danced to it in Zumba many times), this was the first time I'd watched the video. I appreciated many of the different aspects of the video including the general choreography down to them sitting in the hair salon with curlers in their hair. The bar is set!
It takes a very good kid to make this list... but this 7-year-old deserves his spot!

The kid has an excellent voice. I like the fact that although he does skip school to do this, he doesn't completely get away with it...
It's equally unusual for me to feature a video with the original track, but this one really impresses.
100 Movies [sic] Dance Scenes Mashup - presented by What's the Mashup?
The time it took to edit this together must have been incredible! We have scenes from: Back to the Future, The Blues Brothers, MAry Poppins, Grease, Sister Act, Shrek, Star Wars, Aladdin, along with appearances by Rowan Atkinson, Steve Martin, Will Smith and lots lots more!
On to the parodies
If you haven't already heard of SpaceX and Elon Musk then consider the following highly educational. My husband and I are huge fans of Elon's work.
SpaceX Launch You Up - presented by Cinesaurus
Very well presented on all counts! This parody is an excellent mimic of the original video. In fact, this was the first parody I found where they used the rotational video tricks of the original.
Today's WTF selection!
Shaolin Monk - presented by Glove and Boots
Talk about The Muppets meet Tibet... Here's an interesting introduction to Buddhism or just a crazy cultural offering. Whatever you want to take from it, it's definitely worth a watch!

This one was my runner-up for the WTF selection, but I liked it so much I decided to give it to you anyway.
Uptown Funk Desi {Hindi} - presented by Mt. Napster LS
I don't know any Hindi, but as there are lots of English lyrics as well, this was completely enjoyable. Take the original and plunk it down in the middle of India - watch to the very, very end, it's worth it!
Grand Finale!
Dark Lord Funk - Harry Potter - presented by KFace TV
Although Voldemort's makeup is a bit, er, obvious, this was a top-class parody! They did an excellent job of adhering both to the Harry Potter fandom and the original video, down to hilarious foam curlers in the salon scene (complete with Bellatrix, of course) and moving images in the newspaper! Even the cruciatus curse makes a poignant appearance at the dance club...
