Piccolo meets modular synth!

First things first, big news: my latest track "The Piccolo" is out now!

It's an electronic track primarily created on a modular synth has the unlikely title (and sample from) the tiny half sized wind instrument: the piccolo!

I love blending different sounds and production techniques like this and bending genres! Especially with the quite edgy percussion I've used it has resulted in what I think is quite a complex and unusual track.

If you think you have heard anything like this before do let me know though!

Here's what a piccolo actually looks like - super cute:

And now let's have a listen to the track:

"The Piccolo" is part of Electronic Music Alliance's Future Sounds Anthology 3.0 album - an album showcasing brand new electronic music from 23 different artists! I've been a member of EMA for some time now and it's where I met @stickupboys (who got me started on Hive!), @nickyhavey (one of the 3 founders), @gribbles, @tygertyger and @d-vine. All great musicians! (I'd also like to make a special mention for @tygertyger's art - which I love and one of which was the first ever artwork NFT I bought!

Anyway here is the official cover artwork for the whole album:

As the name implies there have been previous Future Sounds Anthology albums from EMA! If you use Spotify you can check all of them out at:

And here's a picture of my modular used to create the majority of this track - this is me during one of my weekly live radio shows/streams on Brixton Radio, Twitch and VIMM:

This year I'm really exploring different ways to use and capture my live improvised and other modular jams and sessions and use them in released track and this track is an example of that. There are elements added in the computer too, including some of the drums and one of the synth sounds.

However the majority of sounds are recorded directly from the modular - even the Piccolo sample itself which is loaded in the modular and then manipulated using Mutable Instruments Beads - a "texture synthesizer" module before being recorded into the computer. I'll be working a lot more with capturing the modular music this year - this is just the start!

Hope you enjoyed this track - let me know what you think!
