In India, praying to Lord Sun has a special significance. Many people offers water to the rising sun every morning. Lord Sun is considered to be responsible for Life and Food on earth. Had there been no Sun, we would have starved of food.
The Sun God gives power, position, authority, glory, name, reputation, force and makes one a ruler or a kingly person. If the planet Sun is posited in a beneficial house in the natal chart, then it will make you an administrator.

The practice has been going on since ages. We have seen our parents doing that and now even many new generation too. It is difficult to bear Sun in the wee hours so, people worship the rising sun early in the morning. The best way to offer water is by bathing and standing on water.
Recently, I had the opportunity to take a dip in holy Ganga, early in the morning. The Sun started to Shine and it is best time to offer water and pray. Those who do not have the river previleage, use
The normal practice of offering water is to fill a small copper vessel with water , and slowly pour it in Rising Sun direction. The mantra to chant while offering water is OM SURAYA NAMAH. (suraya is sun in hindi) But when we do not have it we can offer it with our palm.(like the way in picture)
Sunrays has many healing property, it is a natural way to get rid of many eye and skin problem. It also helps in increasing immunity.
Worshipping to lord Sun has a specific mention in Ramayana. It is said that when Rama losing its strength and power in war against Ravana. Then Sage Agatsya suggested Rama to worship Lord Sun.
We also have specific mention of "Surya Namaskar" among the Yoga enthusiast. Surya Namaskar is a 12 steps yoga stretching which is also performed in early morning hours. It is said that a single wrong step may harm you. So while performing this Surya Namaskar make sure it is executed precisely.
If you regularly worship the sun, it removes ego, anger, greed, desire and evil thoughts from a person's mind.
