Welcome to July and #minnowuprising - @taskmaster4450's initiative to overwhelm Steemit with plankton and minnow posts, to grow our accounts and get a bigger piece of the Steemit pie. Read all about it here.
This means if you are a plankton (less than 500 Steem Power) or a minnow (less than 5,000 Steem Power), the goal is to post 3-4 times a day and use your vote power to upvote fellow baby fish. You get ten 100% upvotes a day (if you have a slider bar, you can vote more often at a lower percentage).
Thanks to @phoenixwren for that nice summary from this post, which also has a link to this post with lots of ideas of things to blog about. Posting 3/4 times is a great idea, but if you're not able to do that, here's the one thing you can do:
The one thing you can do - use all your upvotes - 10 a day at 100%.
(Thanks to @mrscwin for the fabulous picture 😊).
Not Sure What Your Voting Power Is?
Here's an easy tool to help you: head for Steem Now. Look at the third box down:
1. Replace penguinpablo with your username. 2. Your voting power will show in box 2. Anything above 80% voting power and you're good to go with 100% upvotes. It will also tell you how many hours until you reach 100% voting power.
But Plankton Votes Are So Tiny They Are Not Worth Anything
Treat yourself to @dustsweeper. In your wallet, transfer a small amount of Steem Dollars to @dustsweeper. This account will match tiny plankton votes coming into your account (especially useful for votes on comments) and make sure everyone of them counts. Here's the Dustsweeper FAQs which tell you more about it.
Minnow Uprising - Starting Stats for #needleworkmonday
Profile on Sunday 1 July 2018 at 8am of the 22 posts in the previous week with the #needleworkmonday tag: 16 plankton (red fish) and 6 minnows. Notice that all the larger accounts have less than 100% voting power (VP).
At the beginning of July, the 22 accounts that posted under #needleworkmonday the previous week had 9,731 Steem Power (SP). Each account has ten votes at 100% Voting Power (VP) everyday, and over a week there are 1,540 votes between the 22 accounts. The actual votes over the week by each account is shown in the Votes column.
In the next column, (VA), votes have been adjusted to cap minnows at 70 (minnows have a slider bar which allows them to give out more smaller votes at 100% VP); and the two plankton accounts have been capped at 70 votes at 100% VP. This gives a total of 1,113 votes (about 72%) cast against a possible 1,540 votes at 100% VP - a loss of 427 votes.
We need those 427 votes to help shift more of the rewards pie towards the smaller plankton and minnow accounts.
Why I love #needleworkmonday
When @crosheille ran this challenge a few weeks ago, #needleworkmonday posters talked about what they enjoyed - being among like-minded people who loved knitting and sewing and a hundred things in between, sharing ideas, being inspired, getting and giving support. That's wonderful!
Would we like a little more of the rewards pie as well?
I think so.
I'd like to see the amount of Steem Power in #needleworkmonday steadily increase over the month of #minnowuprising. Please use all your votes during the week to help that, even if you don't have time to post or comment. That's the one thing you can do 😊.
