Not sure what was up this morning
but I posted this through @ntopaz and for some reason it said it hadn't posted. Then I refreshed, resigned in tried again and fail, then a third time and it said: "You can only post once every 10 minutes" and I thought, "Odd, I thought it was NOT posting"... Then...Refresh and it showed up twice!
so I erased one
but you can't delete posts on Steemit so it was just an odd 'non-post' and then I felt odd getting votes on it, SO I just put the post back in the body of this post as well. Oh well, we'll see.
It's a little frustrating, as I do put time into my art and then a little time into my post, so now I feel like it's oddly disjointed.
Anyhoo...
here it is again I guess.
- Have you ever had that problem of an accidental double post via computer/site failure?
Another piece of my ongoing latest Singularity piece:
I love sharing bits of these larger pieces as I work on them
as a fun way to reveal them. In a way I see it as "chapters" in the story of the final piece.
Here is the section I am sharing again, as I'm never sure how it get's cropped above:
I'll share one of the sketches again of this piece:
As per usual to my working on these pieces
I of course made many changes before going to digital oil. I played with colour and added more animals:
I changed up the face and expression
which I shared on one of the last posts about this ongoing painting:
And of course, the last time I shared it I had worked on the little pug on her lap and decided on colour changes for the robotic arm:
I had added an apple in her hand as well at that point, considering the fable of the 'first woman' and the apple in Eden.
I often add more elements as I build up these pieces.
The story continues to grow for me as I work on it over time and contemplate it. In this latest piece shared today, her other arm, I added another butterfly. I have mentioned many times my love of the butterfly as representative of the human soul.
This character, in her post Singularity world, puzzles at the un-peopled place in which she lives.
Surrounded by the old human companions of animals, she often contemplates her own loss of Humanity or even what Humanity may even have been. Thus, the use of the butterfly as representative of the human soul is a symbolic way to play with that idea of lost spirit of the Olde World.
I hope you're enjoying the continual growth of this piece
as much as I have been enjoying returning to it. Once I came to grips with my yearly acceptence that I'd continue to work on as many Singularity paintings as came to me this year, I have enjoyed them all the more.
They shall run in tandem with my usual Graphic animal pieces
which I can create a bit quicker and have more of a feel of 'finish' to them as I begin to lay them out. Something the more involved paintings of the Singularity world does not have. Their more 'open ended' dead line allows me to really delve into them, whilst the graphic animal pieces feel more the 'bread and butter' of my art work.
The duality of these two art paths for the year seem the best use of my creative time.
One path, allows a bit more of the dreamer and procrastinator, whilst the other gives me enough satisfaction at finishing pieces hopefully in a week to put out into the world for sale on things and as prints.
Perhaps this twinned path is my best way to approach Art and digital living at present,
who can say?
And with that, I'll close here, as I've more to do to finish my latest two animals in chairs and another sketch on the drawing board. I am also excited to think I shall soon be back at my beloved Toad Hall and begin planting some seed. When I am not thinking of art, I am dreaming of my garden and chicks and quail and the sea.
I hope you get a moment to dream today and possibly set aside some time to work on creating that dream.
