"Destiny" artwork in progress

Hello there, sexy ppl!

How are ya doing?
I'm back with more than 20 hours of progress, 12 of which I did yesterday. It was total madness to do it. But I had to fix my sleep pattern. Woke up around 4 o'clock PM the day before and decided that I have to get myself in order. For me is easy to do that with games, but I was wondering if I could be productive while trying to stay awake. I've done that before but not even close to that extent.

The easiest way was to have an interaction with people while painting, so I started a stream. 12 hours can be a long ass time, especially if your eyelids are getting heavier with every minute. Tony Rumble, a fellow streamer woke up, joined my stream. Went to work. Got back on his lunch break and I was still running it... :D It was crazy, tons of people stopped by to say hi. I don't even remember half of the conversations... However, here's some progress :P

After I spent 3 hours finishing the textures on the panels next to the legs I got really... Bored and started wondering how can I make this more interesting. And even without thinking I created a new layer with a Colordodge blending mode and started applying Bright blue light to justify the rim light that I've got on the legs, the skull, and the hands. It turns out that people like flashy stuff. Who would have guessed that?

Duplicated the panel layers, flipped them horizontally and placed them on the right side to add more symmetry.
I'll make a different detail design for the panels on the bottom right side, but for now, it's good for display purposes.

I was thinking about adding angel wings- like elements on the background for a long time. I needed an idea, did a couple of quick sketches with one axis vertical symmetry turned on. This is when the stream got flooded with people. That fired me up like a torch. And for the last 3 and a half or maybe 4 hours I was working on that...

Through the night before the stream, I wrote a couple of pages, trying to assemble a story about the piece.

Basically, in the near future, we run mostly on solar energy. There's a revolutionary technology that allows us to drain energy from the core of the earth. That's a bad idea, we manage to activate a couple of supervolcanos... and we enter a manmade ice age. for many years there is no sun in the sky because of the thick clouds of volcanic dust and gasses. There's a seismic activity never seen before. All the tech that relies on solar power is down. This looks like the end of our civilization, less than a million people managed to survive. Decades later, one of the AI projects created by Simon Peterson survived this cataclysm. This is where the story begins.
