Hello! Today I want to show you my first drawing from the collection: "History of tableware".
The first work from this collection- "Antique amphora" is a ceramic vessel of elongated or egg-shaped form with 1-2 vertical handles on the throat or on the shoulders. They were made of clay, ceramics, bronze, silver, marble and glass.
Ordinary clay amphoras were used to store olive oil, water or wine, incense, cosmetics and medicines. and were incredibly popular as a gift.
Painted amphorae filled with olive oil served as a prize in sports competitions.
The most famous techniques of antique painting were the red-figure and black-figure techniques.
In the red-figured vase painting, the background was painted in black, and the figures in red.
In the black-figureed vase painting, Romans and Greeks depicted mythology, battle storyes and figures of people to the vase with help a glossy clay and brushes. When amphorae kilns, the clay of the vessel grew a reddish tinge, and the printed drawing grew black.
I decided to depicted a black- figure vase painting with the image of a Roman legionary.
