Hola amigos!
Lyrics
When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
So darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me
If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
Or the mountains should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry, no I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh stand now, stand by me, stand by me
And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me
Oh, stand now by me, stand by me, stand by me
Hello friends! I am happy to greet you again, after many moons.
This week for the first time playing a musical instrument called "CUATRO". This is an instrument of folklore in my country, Venezuela. It is a plucked string instrument that has four tuned orders at the ratio of: la1, re2, fa # 2 and si1, the peculiar tuning -not totally ascending- is a very distinctive element of other string instruments. It belongs to the family of old Spanish guitars, is small in size and owes its name to the number of strings it has. It should not be confused with the current Puerto Rican cuatro of five orders and ten metallic strings. It is a typical instrument and the most emblematic of Venezuelan music. It is used in both rural and urban areas. Its nylon strings produce a beautiful sound, melancholy but sober. It is performed as an accompanying instrument or as a solo instrument. I wanted to bring something different and it occurred to me to present you with this song that I love and have hummed since I was a little girl, with El Cuatro.
Stand by me is a 1961 song performed by Ben E. King and composed by himself and by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller (using the pseudonym Glick). It has been covered many times by great interpreters like John Lenon. I hope you like this version.
I thank the organizers of this contest, the gentlemen @luzcypher and @pfunk and the judges @soundlegion, @krystle, @verbal-d, @passion-ground and @meno. To @christopherb for the completion of the video.
Blessings to all in this new week!
