Our Weekend Getaway

On Friday at around noon, my wife texted me while I was in class and suggested that we head to Las Vegas for the weekend. If anyone here knows me, they know that I am all about Las Vegas, so naturally I started making reservations for us as soon as I could.
Every 6 months we need to get my wife's wedding ring inspected to keep the warranty active on it and the nearest store that can do it is either Boise or Vegas, so we have to go to Vegas to get it done, well because Boise sucks. Plus with all of the stuff that has been going lately, we felt we needed a break from our normal lives and needed some time to relax and have a good time.

After class and my wife got home from work, we loaded up the car and headed south for the 6 hour drive. Our son didn't want to come with us because he would miss too much work and he is rebuilding a car and wants to get some new parts for it, so it was my wife, daughter and I.

After we got there to Vegas, we got checked in to Circus Circus (I do not recommend that hotel) and then headed out to the Strip. It was already after 10, but this is Vegas and all the fun happens at night anyways, plus we have a tradition of getting gelato at the Venetian. What I didn't realize was that we were a few miles away from the Venetian, so we have quite a journey ahead of us to get our ice cream prize. At least we had a lot of crazy people and cool stuff to see along the way.

We finally made it to the Venetian and got our gelato and it was worth it. Then we turned around and started walking back towards the crappy Circus Circus. Along the way we saw some dude that was passed out along the fence on the sidewalk. My daughter had never seen it before and was worried about the guy, but I told her that's why you don't party too hard while you are here in Vegas.
We finally made it back to Circus Circus for the worst sleep ever. I think the walls and doors at this place must be made out of rice paper because you can hear EVERYTHING. People and kids running and screaming up and down the halls, doors opening and closing, stuff smacking the walls on all sides and above. It just sucked all around.
After our shitty nap, we got up ready to head out for the day again. We spent the morning at the pool which was kind of cool because it had a water park with slides, but everything got crowded quick, so we decided it was time to get some lunch and head to Fremont St, our favorite place in Vegas.
Fremont St

Now, if you have never been to Vegas before or heard of Fremont St, this is what Vegas is all about. We don't go to Vegas to gamble or any of that stuff, we go to have fun and for the people, and Fremont is all about fun and crazy people. There are street performers all over the place, live music, a zip line that goes across the roof of the whole place. It is just pure awesomeness.

There were a bunch of adult baby men getting tips to have people take pictures with them.

All I could think of is how these guys explain to their girlfriends of wives how they make a living. Now that would be a fun conversation to listen in on. It would also be pretty funny to watch them prepare for "work" as they get their diapers on and pack some extras in their diaper bags in case they make a poopoo in the one that they are wearing.

This dude was making a killing with his tiny little thong. He has been there on Fremont St the last few times we have been out to Vegas and each time, he has had people getting pictures with him one after another. He must pull in some pretty good money.

This guy needs to up his game. I am not sure what he is supposed to be, but he didn't have anyone coming up and getting any pictures with him. The babies were getting way more action than this abomination.

Last time I was in Vegas, I took some pictures of this statue guy. His costume is awesome and he is really good at what he does. I gave my daughter some money to put in his basket because she had never seen a human statue before and didn't know what they did. After she dropped the money in the basket, the guy leaned forward right in front of her to a different pose and scared her and she jumped back, it was pretty funny.

This doofus was stumbling all over the place before EMS picked him up and carted him away. Some people just can't handle themselves and their alcohol. We stayed on Fremont for a bit longer before we headed back to the ghetto Circus Circus.
Hitting the Strip again

Once we got back to the hotel, we rested for a bit and let it cool off a little before we headed back out to the Strip for the night. I wanted to eat dinner at Dick's Last Resort, which was at the Excalibur. That was on the whole other side of the strip from where we were. So we headed out on our journey.

Walking from Circus Circus to the Excalibur takes you past everything on the Strip because they are on totally opposite sides from one another. So we got to see pretty much everything and there was a TON of people along the way.

Every 15 minutes in front of the Bellagio, they have a music and water show that is pretty cool. It also kind of sucks walking on that side of the street because there are so many people that stop there to watch the show, so it is always so crowded.

Until next time

It was such an awesome weekend and my wife and I were talking about how we were able to pack so much into basically one day since we really just had Saturday to do anything. I am glad that our daughter had such a great time. She has been having a hard time lately with everything going on, so it was good to see her smiling and laughing so much. This was a much needed getaway for all of us. Hopefully next time our son is able to come with us.
Thank you for taking the time to read up about our crazy Vegas weekend. You are awesome.
