So what have I been up to on Sunday? Pretty much nothing because it's been so hot, and I've stayed in all weekend. Oh actually, I did do something really useful today. I had no food at home, so I baked a bloomer. See how massive it is!! It covers up my whole head.
By late afternoon when it was a bit cooler, I decided to go out for dinner as I've been stuck indoors for two days already. The best thing about public transport here is that it is free within 10km, that's why I always catch the bus when it's not walkable. This is my local bus stop outside the botanical gardens, hence all the green plants.
After dinner, I decided to walk a little bit before catching the bus home. It's very safe here even at night time and I've never had any issues at all.
On the way, I passed by a few of my favourite shops. This is my go to shop for pineapple cakes and other local snacks. Pineapple cakes is one of Taiwan's most famous snack and a must buy for probably 90% of tourist. Most tourists go to another more famous shop which I've written about before because it's advertised in all the tourist guides. But the products here are miles better than the other more famous place. If you ever visit Taichung, you know where to go for presents now! Trust me!
Stationery stores are another one of my favourite. I just love the rows and rows of colourful pens and pencils, stacks of books and notepads, and all the bits and pieces which you don't need but want to take home with you. This stationery store is big, it has a mezzanine floor (I'm standing on the stairs) and what you see is about 60% of the shop area.
My next stop was a big chemist/general store. I like coming here to see what snacks they have. Sometimes they stock some interesting stuff from Japan and biscuits like McVites Digest and Walkers Shortbread from UK. I didn't buy anything today because I just found my stash of crisps yesterday. After spending about 15 miutes enjoying the air con, I decided to make a move. When I left the shop I saw a poster outside which caught my eye, and I went back inside to look for the product. This is what I was looking for. I'm not an avid Coke fan nor do I wear much makeup nowadays, but I think this is a fantastic product crossover and wanted to take this photo to show my friend who collects Coke stuff.
After walking 1.3km (darn, I could have done an Actifit post!!!) I got to my bustop. Not only are buses free, the bus stops are smart ones as well. There are four bus routes, and the sign shows their due time, either in minutes or if its going to be a while the estimated time of arrival. These are real time and quite accurate.
And finally, I'm on the bus home. Free of charge of course. And this is my #beautifulsunday post.
