New Zealand screws up, and release personal information on those complying with current buy back Laws!

New Zealand jumped on the gun control band wagon after the recent gun violence down there. They outlawed 1,500,000 firearms held legally, and 10,000 were turned in.

Then the government there, being omniscient, and perfect in their own eyes; allowed public access to all the personal information entered when these firearms were surrendered. Someone else had to tell them that they were chronically stupid!

I guess the only think the politicians can really secure on a computer, is Hillary's Emails....

Just a few key taps, and you could harvest even bank information!

It will be interesting to see what lawsuits come from this....

Due to a software mishap, the private and allegedly secure information of gun owners participating in New Zealand’s weapons buyback program became accessible to visitors of a government website built for the surrendering of recently illegal weapons. According to Deputy Commissioner Mike Clement, a weapons dealer alerted the police to the privacy breech after logging into the site and discovering the private information.

The gun dealers were put in the middle of this by the government.

Concerned that some individuals would not want to surrender their weapons directly to the police, weapons dealers have been authorized to collect the surrendered guns on behalf of law enforcement, and thus had access to the website built for managing the buyback scheme.

This ban has been a total boondoggle, and a Public Relation nightmare! They were naive enough to think that people would comply, and stand in line to surrender their legal firearms.

After the tragic Christchurch Massacre in March of this year, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern quickly pushed through legislation that banned the ownership of so called “military-style” semi-automatic weapons and set aside a large fund to buy back such firearms. Since the buyback program was initiated in July, some 10,000 weapons have been surrendered – out of an estimated 1.5 million total in the country.

So, this "turn in" rate is 0.66%, Not exactly a roaring success! The Politicians just made Felons out of 1,490,000 Registered voters, I hope they are angry next time they go into vote!

Being blamed for the breech is the German software provider, SAP, who initiated an unauthorized online update for the website. The private information made public to these weapons dealers as a result included the names, addresses, banking information, and firearms license numbers of an unknown number of gun owners.

Though police have stated that the program will continue, the breech has many deeply concerned for the safety and security of the program. Nicole McKee of the Council of Licensed Firearms Owners is among those concerned, calling the program a “shopping list for criminals.” McKee also pointed out that gun owners are now being forced to “comply with a system that cannot be trusted.”

New Zealanders have until December 20 to hand in their banned weapons, at which point a person caught with a banned firearm, or even a part of a banned firearm, could be facing a prison sentence of up to five years.

FIVE YEARS IN PRISON? With 1,490,000 honest Felons, that is 7.450,000 man years in Prison; or turn your information over to the criminals originally responsible for this gun violence! Only and Idiot...or a politician could plan this badly!

New Zealand's firearms buyback scheme has been central to a data breach caused by human error at SAP.

The buyback scheme, which ends on December 20, allows gun holders to trade in full weapons, as well as parts, accessories, and magazines.

This program ended on December 20th, so any weapons found now mean Prison time.

Once the amnesty and buyback schemes end, owners may be prosecuted for owning guns now illegal in the country.

On Monday, New Zealand's Deputy Commissioner Mike Clement said that a website used by firearms owners to register and relinquish their weapons was subject to a security lapse, in which an arms dealer notified the police that they were able to access other account information without permission.

They didn't even Know that they had been breached!!!! Hillary could have wiped it for them, and after her hammer, that data would finally be safe....

Names, addresses, dates of birth, firearms license numbers and bank account details were accessible, as reported by The Guardian, in what Nicole McKee, from the Council of Licensed Firearms Owners called a "shopping list for criminals."

Once made aware of the incident, Clement says that the platform was immediately shut down and will not be used again until law enforcement is sure it is safe to do so. If security issues remain, criminals may be able to gain access to lists of weapons and parts -- as well as their locations -- ahead of the amnesty and buyback system's closure, potentially resulting in theft or owners being put at risk.

But since the entire law is custom tailored to help the criminals in New Zealand, this is just more help for the criminals, and the politicians, but I repeat myself, ROFLOL!
