It's time again for a Look What I Found post, and this time I thought I'd look around what homesteading posts I could find that are worth sharing. As you can guess, there are TONS of super interesting ones. In fact, it was @sagescrub's Food Sovereignty Challenge that got me to look in that direction, and many things I found were directly or indirectly related to it.
However, many steemians who like to post about their homesteads are way above the reputation level of 55. And since I'd like to promote those ones who haven't made it that far (but their quality posts are promising they'll get there), as well as taking part in the weekly Pay It Forward Curation Contest hosted by @pifc, I had to look a bit deeper.
In the end I found two interesting posts I'd like to share here. One is about a Cycad plant and its fruiting body, causing apparently great happiness to the person taking care of it. The other one is about duck eggs, getting prepared to hatch. Take a look, enjoy the posts, and leave an upvote!
My 30 Year Old Cycad has grown a Pineapple! by @enjoycompany
This post is so simple, yet so beautiful in itself. The protagonist is a cycad plant that has grown a pineapple-looking fruiting body, as the title says. Reading through it I couldn't help smiling, as the author @enjoycompany was visibly delighted and excited about this rare occurrence. Though it has happened before, it's been years since then. And this time she intends to save the seeds... But read it for yourselves. The post also has a couple of fine pictures of the various parts of the plant.
Incubating Duck Eggs Day 6, T - 22 by @meanbees
In this post @meanbees shows us how his duck's eggs are doing. This is only the most recent one in a number of posts on duck's eggs, so we can expect more, and eventually, hopefully, some posts on ducklings. I have doubt about it, as he seems to be paying a lot of attention to them. Though this steemian doesn't post with a great regularity, he has linked his live stream channels, where you can take a look at his goats, chickens, ducks, geese, dogs, and cats, which are said to be quite entertaining.
My Response to - Challenge: What are you doing to claim food sovereignty for yourself or your community, and why? by @wildhomesteading
Once this post was up and published, I just happened to come across yet another homesteading post that I just HAD to add here. It's by @wildhomesteading, a brand-new blogger on the Steem blockchain, who has been blogging on other platforms, and seems to be quite good at what he's doing.
In this article he gives a very detailed response to the aforementioned query regarding Food Sovereignty. Within the last few days that he's been on steem, @wildhomesteading has also written a couple of other articles, including a great intro post. So why don't you head over to his profile and give him a hearty welcome!
Enjoy the posts, and tune in again next week to Look What I Found!
