Throughout the world, there are various symbols representing peace and love and some of the more common ones include the olive branch and the dove, the heart, the broken rifle, a white poppy, the crane, the ancient Asian peace symbol of the pax, and the peace symbol - think hippie sign.
No doubt there are many more, but there is one that is becoming more and more recognizable worldwide.
This is the "V"-like gesture of middle and index fingers raised with hands facing away from the person doing the gesturing.
It is said resistance fighters during World War II used this symbol as camaraderie and strength. The "V" is the first letter in French, English, and Flemish languages for "victory".
