It has been a couple of long and tiring days... but this afternoon, I did get to spend a little time out in the back yard, taking photos of the many blooming plants and bushes ablaze with spring color.
Sometimes, the unexpected happens.
I was actually trying to take a shot of the blooming salmonberry bushes against the bright blue sky, but instead of the focus being on the flowers in the foreground, it ended up being on the utility wire in the background... and in the exact moment I pressed the button, a hummingbird settled on the wire.

It was a strangely poignant reminder to not only be open to the unexpected, but also that sometimes unexpected results can actually be better than what we had originally planned for.
In the next photo, you'll see what I was aiming for. That faint horizontal shadow through the center of the photo is actually the same wire... except so out of focus you can barely see it's there.

It is also a poignant visual reminder that much of what we see and do in life comes down to a matter of perspective. What is it that you're focused on? And are you so focused that you overlook other things that are part of the picture?
Well, short post this evening, because it's super late and I have to work all day, tomorrow.
Thanks for reading!
