DOES TRUTH NEEDS EVIDENCE

It is normal in human nature to seek for proof before believing the news. Have you noticed that when someone approached and told us a shocking story, we usually connect questions like “Really?” or “Who is your source?”. We are always in doubt specially if the subject is someone that we truly know, which I agree because it is better to validate it first rather than spreading false and malicious gossips.

Proofs are needed in every judicial proceeding and the defendant will remain innocent until proven guilty. I remembered one time; there is one thing that caught my attention. Our professor told us that justice is not all about telling the whole truth, it is more on presenting strong evidence needed to support an argument. Truth without proof is useless in any court and hearsay will be just a piece of junk.

There are also factors that affect our perceptions in separating truth from lies. It is easier to trust an individual who is wearing a suit and leather shoes than a poor old man with ragged pants and flip-flops. It is like criticizing a novel based on the prologue without even reading it until the very last chapter. Each of us must learn to look beyond the visual aspects and see the importance of fairness. Yes, a diploma is the authenticity of our college degree but it is not the measurement of a person’s word of honor.

When your parents decided to work abroad and promised you that they will visit yearly, do you ask for a round-trip ticket as an assurance? If your partner tells you that he will change his bad habits, do you require him to report every single thing that he is doing in every minute? If truth needs evidence, why we still believe in promises though we aren’t sure if it’s true? I guess it is what we called love and trust.

Have you ever wondered why we still keep our faith despite the fact that we don’t see Him personally? It is for the reason that God is everywhere. From the deepest oceanic abyss up to the heavenly bodies, God’s mercy is undeniable. Each day that we opened our eyes every morning is a clear manifestation that He really exists. A true faith is the ability to follow the light even if you are walking alone in the midst of darkness. Not all evidence is written in documents, some are unseen but felt by the heart.

People tend to believe that things are only real if they can be touched, seen, smelled, and tasted. Once our mind wasn’t able to understand the situation, we just stop believing because it is the convenient thing to do. What we forget is that not all that we hear is already a fact and those unheard voices can’t be automatically considered to be a non-existing truth.

Just think about it, it was a late night and you decided to use the shortcut on your way home but suddenly you felt something wrong before you can even make your first step. Will you continue your journey on this road or believe in your instinct without knowing what lies ahead? Truth with evidence is important but sometimes proof is not available; we must rely on our judgment to save us from danger.

Be a wise man who knows that he can be fooled, so he is alert all the time.

Philosophy in life worth pondering:

  1. One life to live, Real Life is hardcore
  2. DOING THE RIGHT THINGS OR DOING THE THINGS RIGHT
