Here he is! The great African Fish Eagle whose cry is known worldwide!
There was big ruckus in our garden and I ran outside to see what the little birds were upset about. There was a falcon that made a lightning fast visit to the garden and the birds in the granadilla bush made a big noise. I ran inside to get my camera and went through the outer gates into the field to try and get a shot of the falcon, but he was gone. As I was standing there in the field I heard a familiar cry and the next moment here he was. The Fish Eagle!
Let's have a look at this magnificent bird!
This guy was circling above our place, claiming it as his territory!
They hardly ever fly low and this guy was circling way up in the sky. Even with the zoom, I had the morning sun to contend with!
Fly oh mighty eagle, fly,
No man your freedom deny,
Surf the winds in the sky,
Free until the day that you die.
My attempt at a poem, as this bird's cry certainly unlocks the music in my soul.
