Good morning!
When I went to Moscow last year, I stayed at the Key Element Hotel, a small and very modest place. The staff was friendly and the room was only 9² Meters.
(This is my entry for the Food Photography Contest - #2 hosted by @the1ramp platform.)
Upon check in, the staff asked me at what time I'd like to have my breakfast. I didn't pay much attention and just thrown a random number at them.
- "7 AM? OK. That's fine."
I thought they wanted to make the cook's life easier or something like that. I finished the check in and didn't think about it anymore. Until the next day.
- 7 AM on a Monday morning, I get a knock on the door. I was still wet from the bath and wasn't quite ready... and to my surprise, the staff delivered me a tray with the breakfast. 😮
It was the first time I had breakfast delivered to the room, in a hotel. Apparently, the hotel was too small to have a common breakfast room. I found it interesting, but I would like to have had a few more choices.
For example, that bowl of scrambled eggs with cream that you see above on the top right corner... was hard to swallow. I'm not sure what it was but had a weird taste.
I also didn't understood how I was supposed to eat all of that... with just a coffee spoon. What!? 😕
After this, I started asking the breakfast a bit later, so I could have a little extra time to take a bath and get ready.
- On Tuesday, the breakfast was not exactly the same. I was very happy to see that strange thing was not part of it. Also, there was a fork! Sweet! 😁
I still had to use the same spoon for the coffee and the yogurt.
- On Wednesday, they brought me a bowl with what appeared to be that strange thing again... but it was different. This one tasted like milk and cereals. I hope it was. I was very happy to see a spoon, a knife and a fork, in addition to the coffee spoon. 😁
That pastry near the tableware was so yummy. I had no idea what it was, though.
- Thursday arrived with another tray. This time I was wondering if I had to use the same spoon for the coffee and the yogurt once more. Nope, the tableware was hidden below the bread! 😂
- On Friday I got a real treat which included a cake with jam, bacon and eggs, a delicious yogurt... and of course, the coffee which was the one thing in common every day. 😋
- On Saturday I was not expecting a breakfast, since I had to leave at 5 AM. Still, they gave me one. So early in the day I couldn't expect for anything cooked. So, this had to do the trick... 😏
After this final breakfast, I said goodbye to Moscow and returned to the land where never snows, in Portugal.
