The company my wife works for celebrated their 100 year anniversary. We were all invited to come to Rotterdam to celebrate. For the occasion they rented a ship "The Blue Rhapsody" , it was a huge ship complete designed for events and parties. Click here for more information about the ship

The ship was only in use for one week now and 'we' were the third party kept on the ship.
We all stayed in Hotel New York at the "Kop van zuid" in Rotterdam. The hotel has a long history. The building of the Hotel was used as the head office of the "Holland - America lijn". Ships used to board here for a journey to the United States. 100-thousands of people have used this dock to leave Europe to trade it for a life in the States.

Everything in the Hotel was still in the style of it's origin function. A lot of maritime items and detail. I liked it a lot.

My party clothing for the night :)

The view from our room was awesome, we could look over the water and see a lot of the rivierside of Rotterdam.

The ship was lying at the other side of the water so we got picked up by watertaxi to bring us to the shop.

It was a fun drive on the water, our 'captain' loved speeding I guess because he sailed very fast :)

When we walked towards the ship you could see the size of the thing, it was huge and could reside a lot of people on board.

When we boarded we received a delicious glass of Champagne and we were directed to the upper deck. It looked really classy with all the white tables .

The weather was still awesome, the sun was shining and all the happy people came on board.

Our good friends Ronnie & Belinda joined us too, and everywhere we go Belinda and I always take a 'foolish' picture of the both of us :) It's becomming a tradition.
A colleque of my wife asked me to take a picture of him with one employees of the ship :) I named her 'Captain Stubbing" :)

They served some awesome food on board, it was just great. After a while we got asked to go to the lower deck. A band started playing, when I saw the musician I knew this was some great band. I knew the guitarplayer from a tour of my good friend Han Neijenhuis (drummer) with Sonny Hunt, Rory (the guitarplayer of the band on the ship) played along with them at that time. I was quiet surprised to see him on the Ship.

After the show I had a little chat with him, great guy and great musician.
Besides the band there we also 3 Dutch artists who came entertain us all on board.

It was:
Edsilia Rombley

Edsilia started her career trough a talent show mny years ago. She is a great singer but also a great person. I saw here once on a event of my own employer and she know's how to get a party started.
Jeroen van der Boom

Jeroen van der Boom was (before he scored his first hit) a presenter of Dutch TV. While he tried to build a carreer as a musician it didn't happen for a long time. But after his hit "Jij bent zo" , he made it into the absolute top of the Dutch performers. I never really listened and liked his music, but at the party I really liked it and mistaked his musicality.
Rene Froger

Rene Froger is a singer from Amsterdam with a lot of hits in the Dutch charts. He is a great artist although yesterday he wasn't that good. But that is my opinion :)

They all played for about 45 minutes and we enjoyed ourselves very much. It was a great party and I had a great time with my wife and friends.
Have a great weekend !!
Peter
