Ted Nugent: The Forgotten History of the Conservative Rock-and-Roller and Gun Advocate

He goes by many names The Nuge. Uncle Ted. Great Gonzo. The Motor City Madman. But his government name is Theodore Anthony Nugent. He was born in 1948 to a military family. After flunking his physical and declared unfit for military service he decided to channel the discipline and drive of his upbringing somewhere it wasn’t normally applied, rock-and-roll. This proved to be a smart bet on his part, it propelled him to major successes and made him a household name.

Beyond his musical talent as a guitarist and musician, Ted Nugent is an ardent supporter and defender of the First and Second Amendments. He is an avid hunter, conservationist, and a member of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Felony Task Force. In the public eye he’s not been one to bite his tongue or suffer fools gladly. His polemical style and razor sharp tongue have garnered much attention. In exchanges he’s been unflinching, making his opponents hot under the collar seems to be where Uncle Ted really thrives.
