I should probably delegate to @wherein

A little slow on the uptake here but after noticing quite a few accounts with decent votes from @wherein, I decided to take a closer look.

Steem+Instagram

Quite a bold claim on the profile page, but aiming high from the get-go sounds like a plan to me.

A look through the posting history of @wherein shows they started out about 6 months ago. Most of the blogs are presented in Chinese, which likely gives clues to the nationalities of the developers and/or the target audience - and that's a large target audience, one which has had issues I hear in recent years with regards to accessing online content.

The first post written in English is two months old and introduces @wherein as a 'A Steem-based lifestyle social media platform'. Below are a couple of exerts from this post:

We are budding entrepreneurs from People's Republic of China........The voice of Steem is too low in China......Based on the Steem blockchain protocol, we have developed a social media payment platform that demonstrates lifestyle——WhereIn (www.wherein.io).........

Alright, so they have an app, and, they've done some research into what to focus on....

First, Light blog——A simple way to share the world's moments..........in the WeChat ecosystem, users of light blogs are 100 times more than blogs...........

Second, the check-in Dapp——Remember everywhere ............ in the Instagram platform, 30-40% of users have geographical location in content, 35.4% of photos have geo-location maps, and 30.9% of videos have geo-location tags

The app is supposedly designed for 'ordinary users' and touted as easy to use, oh, and they have some tokens planned for delegators. In the final paragraph of this opening post:

....please give us the agent (@wherein). For the wherein agent, we will give 10 times up-vote power, and we will also give the excess WhereIn SMT reward to you.

I'm not too sure what this means. Perhaps their second post in English will explain further.

@wherein/wherein-on-the-road-community-version-1-0-launch-and-delegation-plan

Communities and a Delegation Plan

WhereIn has developed a new simple community function to enable each individual to build self-centered communities (tags). Small communities combine into bigger ones. Individuals connect with each other and create new communities. Each community is independent and is connected to each other at the same time.

Hard to visualize, but it sounds promising. Anything with 'communities' sounds promising and @joythewanderer seemed fairly happy with the application when she gave it a go a little while back: @joythewanderer/v4bx1i3q

What else then?

Early Bird Token Rewards Delegation Plan........ We apologize that we didn’t provide enough details on our delegation plan earlier.

Apology accepted, I shall read on.

All delegators are allocated 7200 tokens according to the amount of their delegated SP. The token rewards will be reduced to half of its previous amount in each of the following 6 months....... After we release the WhereIn Token, at least 100 SP delegation is required to receive WhereIn Token rewards......... The delegation will stop and be announced when it reaches 300K SP.

@wherein currently have 103,000 delegated Steem Power, about a third of the way. But wait, there's more to this delegation.....

All the curation rewards of WhereIn will be given back to delegators. The daily curation rewards of WhereIn will be shared to delegators the next day according to their delegation amount.

And...

Before the release of WhereIn Token, delegators will be upvoted in the power 10 times of your delegated SP amount once a day. Delegators who post with WhereIn will be supported by more up-votes.

So for the delegators, there are tokens on the way, you are paid a % of the curation rewards and given an up-vote, all based on the size of delegation. Time to check out what the curation rewards and the vote look like.....

Gimme STEEM

@wherein/transfers

A 1000 SP delegation paid 0.125 STEEM yesterday. That's roughly 6 cents.

The vote for a 1k delegation is 28 cents, a quarter off for curation is 21 cents + the STEEM send from @wherein, about 27 cents.

That sounds pretty good, and especially for someone not voting for themselves. A 27 cent vote for someone not voting for themselves (and so earning 0 curation for their own posts) is the equivalent of a 100% vote at 13750 SP.

Last bit

@wherein have a huge target audience and are making the right noises with regards to communities and easy of use, and the rewards for ahem, selling your stake to further this plan look pretty good too.

For my account it looks like a no brainer. The only issue is that with a 1000 SP delegation to @wherein, I would have around 5.5% less stake to issue each day. I guess that's not tooo much to lose in one move, I think I'll sneak a delegation in right now and see if anyone notices.

Cheers

Asher
