Finding an old Dacia in Germany

Hello,

Today I was in the former DDR or better known as East Germany with work.

My company acquired a factory there and we had a negotiation round for a new project for a hybrid car.

On the road I've seen this old Dacia 1300 car. This is an 1980 model as the older from 1972 have different or no rear view mirrors.

It reminded me of my childhood, as it was the first car my parents had. They ordered it and it had a 5-7 years lead time.

They got lucky and won it earlier on the lottery at the start of the 80s. Of course they had to pay it, but they got the chance to have it earlier.

Like everything in the East Block States this car was a copy under license from a western model.
In this case was the Renault 12 Gordini.

From all the East Block cars I can think only of a couple that have not been build or copied under license. The late Tatra cars, the Trabant and the Dacia Sport.

You might say the eternal Lada 1300, but it was also a copy from a Fiat.

So, it was a nice surprise seeing this old reliq from a different and past time.

What was your first car?
