PROLOG

Modification of used containers into coffee shops or cafes is indeed not a something new. The container concept offers a minimalist and simple design, and is a cool place to hang out with friends especially at night.

One of the coffee shops in the Cipete area, South Jakarta, which has a container concept is 36 Coffee.

36 Coffee is located on the edge of Cipete Raya Street, located in one area with a workshop. 36 Coffee is easy to find.

Along the road in the Cipete Raya area there are indeed many coffee shops, but 36 Coffee is never empty of visitors because it offers affordable prices.

When I visited the place, most visitors were college students who were discussing college assignments.

36 Coffee is also often used to watch with soccer matches.

The Space

1st Floor, Indoor Area.jpg

36 Coffee has a minimalist design and looks clean. The material used in the chair is iron to be able to blend with the container material as the main material of the building.

To give a simple and clean impression, the table material used is a clean and sparkling white granite table.

The building consists of 2 floors with each area having indoor and outdoor.

1st floor

1st Floor at Coffee looks not so wide, but it is well organized. There is space attached to the glass of the room, with the type of seat bar stools.

There is a sofa at the end of the room for visitors who want to to be comfortable. And, there are also single seat chairs with backs.

1st Floor, Outdoor Area.jpg

For the 1st floor outdoor area, it is in front of the building. Can be used for visitors who smoke. However, the 1st floor outdoor area looks less attractive because it is too close to the road area.

2nd Floor

I chose to sit in the 2nd floor indoor area because it was not in the same area as the payment area, so it was not disturbed by the arrival / departure of visitors.

Quite cold it turns out in the 2nd floor indoor area. Look at the glass that limits indoor and outdoor areas! So cold! Please, prepare a jacket.

For outdoor at 2nd floor, this space is a favorite of many visitors because they can see the street area and have television with international channels.

My Experience

For along time ago, I used to order online for fried rice, which I still remember until now.

When I returned to this place, I only ordered coffee and snacks. The menu that I ordered does look very simple, like a home-style menu. Naturally, the price offered is the cheapest compared to the coffee shop in the area here.

Coffee & Milk.jpg

Milk Coffee

I ordered milk coffee, without "art" on it. Just ordinary, with a taste that is also ordinary, less thick, like too much water. It feels like I can make this drink myself at home.

But that is not a big problem, because I was only looking for a place that has strong wifi access in this place, to complete my work. Besides that, I also can't really protest against the taste because I am paying for a low price.

Pisang Bakar Keju (Grilled Bananas With Cheese)

Pisang Bakar Keju.jpg

For snacks, I chose Pisang Bakar Keju (Grilled Bananas With Cheese). This is Indonesian Snack. Too much cheese is given, but unfortunately without additional touch, so the cheese doesn't have any additional effect on the banana.

I think, this snack should be better if the cheese is heated briefly so that the texture will be more integrated with the banana.

The taste of the grilled banana itself feels very traditional. A taste that reminds me of my hometown, when I grilled bananas using charcoal.

Conclusion

Coffe by 36 Coffee.jpg

Friendly service at low prices, as well as a comfortable place is suitable for young people to hang out or do their schoolwork with fast wifi facilities.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money just to hangout with friends and a cup of coffee, 36 Coffee is the right choice if compared to coffee shops in the area next to it. :)
