Job is something which plays an important role in our life and to live a life we need money and in order to get money I must get myself into a job which will provide me money. Without money we can’t do anything because everything is based on money food, cloth, health care etc. When I am working under someone to get paid then that is a job. And I will get the job as per my ability.
Of course, I want a good amount of salary which should be based on my skills. And where my skills are valued they would pay off a good amount. As a worker I would always expect to have a good salary. But I have seen many arguing about equal pay. Well, in my opinion I don’t agree with the equal pay thing. If I think of it very deeply then I would say it’s because I have worked so hard to gain knowledge and improved my skills by grinding for it and if someone with less skills having the same salary then to be honest I would be devastated. Because, my hard would feel like was for nothing and anyone can just have the same pay as mine and I have been hard on myself for no reason. So, that’s gonna make me feel demotivated. Which is not a good thing for me or the company. In the future I might end up leaving my job and find another company where they would value my skills.
I also think that equal pay might increase the rate of laziness and works might be delayed for that. Like if I am in higher position with a good pay I would work hard to maintain my position. I do know people are equal they do have equal rights but in the sector of jobs some are more equal than others by skills or experiences. If everyone had the same salary then there would be no need to work hard for something better. Like they would be lazy and give less effort. I think that surgeons and other medical experts who can save patients should be paid more than some other sector of jobs.
I think garbage collectors also should be paid. Because of them our city stays clean. Already in Bangladesh we do pay monthly for the garbage collectors. Other then that if all jobs paid the same then why would anyone deal with garbage and when people could earn the same money by collecting garbage’s and being a cashier at shop or in a restaurant?
Equal pay does a little to protect equal rights. And it might reduce a complex social problem. Still I would say people has different experiences & focus areas. Moreover, a person tracking climate and a person who is an Emergency Medical Technician both are individual and both can’t be the same type of work and how can someone get paid equally for that because those are two different area.
Being paid equally is unfair and leads to waste. Like if I have two plumbers and I have to pay them equally but one did the work in 3 hours and the other making it late like has passed over weeks? In my opinion I think that people should be paid for how much value they have provided and for specific skills to do their job.
In my point of view, I would say that if everyone gets paid based on their skills and ability that would a solution. If I had the power to change the society I would make a place where everyone is treated respectfully for their work and no one would dare to make the work seemed as a cheap work and there would be no gender discrimination. Also, If a man gets paid good amount for his skills and abilities then that should be for a women too. So, there should not be any kind of discrimination and everyone deserves a good pay for their abilities and skills. Which will help everyone to stay happy with what they get and work hard and set a goal for betterment.
