BEASTLY TALES

THE TEACHER’S PET

Something seemed a bit odd about Olivia,
Nothing major, only small, a thing of trivia.
“What could it be? I really want to know,”
So said her guardian, old Uncle Joe.
She did exceedingly well, whilst at her school.
Her grades were all good, she was no fool!
But she did not get “exemplary” for her behaviour.
And old Uncle Joe wouldn’t be her saviour.

“Placing a carpet tack on your teacher’s chair,”
“Is not viewed lightly, never you care!”
“Poor Mrs Gantry nearly hit the roof!”
“Never, in her career, anything like this, forsooth!”
When quizzed as to why she had done it,
Olivia said she had a thought, then decided to gun it!
“If it was a bad idea, then, sorry I am!”
“But as she is a grumpy old thing, I don’t give a damn!”
“She made me write, after school, three hundred lines,”
“I must not stick up in school any rude signs.”
“I missed my bus home, and had to walk.”
“And everyday, she drones on, talk, talk, talk!”

“Such a little thing, is a carpet tack,”
“For her to be so outraged, sound judgement she does lack!”
“Next time I will place a nail on her chair,”
“And chortle very loudly, as she flies through the air!”
Such an attitude did not impress the School Board,
What to do with her, had them floored!
“Why don’t we make her a teacher?” one said.
“She can find out first-hand, about those bad ideas in her head!”
