This is a kind of a long overdue post for the photos that I took because it is supposed to be done before the Indonesian Independence Day which was on the 17th of August. I even took the photos a week before the celebration. hahah
One of the things that usually marks Independence Day besides the national flag can be seen all over the place is this Street Marching Competition or we called it Gerak Jalan. I was lucky to be home and have time to go out for a little bit to watch this competition.
It was the Competition for the Senior High School Students within the Regency where I live. Don't ask me what its means because honestly I am not really sure, but I guess it is about determination, discipline, and a thing to commemorate our Independence.
And just like the name of the competition, they do it in the town streets almost in the middle of the day in the dry season which is quite hot. Good coordination is needed so that they can march beautifully for a few kilometers, and in some places, they will do some kind of movement attraction which unfortunately I couldn't see.
PIB (people In black), I could not imagine how hot it will be, wearing a black costume under the heat of the hot sun. But they all seem so eager and have a lot of spirits.
a biker moves in between the squad. I happen to stay near the U-turn where the squad would turn around for the finish line.
These two girls seem like first aid responders from one of the school, getting ready incase one of the squad members need help.
Good documentation is needed, right?
And this girl took a much better video than me. Hhhmmm what did I do when I was at her age? Still playing in the mud I think, now she has a smartphone in her hand. I am certainly old. hahaha
