Hello dear Hive Community, first of all I would like to wish you all a pleasant day and hope you are well! In this post, I would like to bring a mineral a little closer and hope you can expand your knowledge.
Here you can see a rare mineral that also belongs to the mineral class of sulfates and is known under the name Cyanotrichite. This mineral was probably first discovered in Romania by the mineralogist Ernst Friedrich Glocker (1793 - 1858) who referred to the Greek words Kyaneos for blue and Triches for hair when naming it, whereby he referred to appearance. Cyanotrici is usually produced as a secondary mineral in the oxidation zone of copper-containing deposits and it contains high levels of copper, but it is uninteresting as a ore due to its rarity. In order to go more precisely to the formation, this is due to the fact that copper sulfate comes into contact with oxygen and the crystals often have a needle or radial appearance. Due to the rarity, there are generally few to no industrial areas of application and it is particularly interesting in collectors circles. The color can vary between light or dark blue shades and it is often found together with azurite, malachite or other copper minerals and in this specimen auzurite can also be seen. In addition to Romania, the most notable places of discovery include Switzerland, England, USA, Russia, Spain, Germany or Morocco.
Many thanks for stopping by and I hope you like my new contribution! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens!
