Hey dear Hive friends, first of all I would like to wish you all a pleasant day and hope you had a great weekend full of positive experiences! Today I would like to present you pictures of an important tree and go into more detail and hope you can learn something new.
Here you can see pictures of walnut, which is also known as Juglans and originally comes from Central Asia. Hardly any tree is older than the walnut tree and it counts as one of the oldest trees and is considered very adaptable when it comes to the climate and has also been an important food for humanity for thousands of years. It became more and more widespread via trade routes and was quickly spread in ancient Rome, Greece and China from where it became more and more popular and more distributed all over the world. It was also associated with immigrants from Spain who brought it to America and who contributed a large part to the spread in Europe was the well-known ruler Charlemagne, who also ensured that many walnut trees were planted in his territory and he generally attached great importance to the cultivation of various plants.
A full-grown tree can live several hundred years and reach sizes of over 20 meters and is extremely resistant to pests and it thrives best on nutrient-rich soils and is also extremely interesting from an ecological point of view and is often used by birds as a food source. It is considered very resistant to frost, but with young trees you should still make sure that you do not expose it too much frost and also from a forestry point of view it is extremely interesting. From about September, the fruits are ripe, which from a medical point of view is a great food source which is rich in omega-3-fatty acids, magnesium, vitamins and other active ingredients and consumption can have many positive properties on health. As always, it should be mentioned that in the event of illness, you should always use your doctor or pharmacist after the right medicine!
From a symbolic point of view, this tree is often associated with femininity or fertility and can also be found in the mythology of different cultures. The meaning as a symbol of fertility probably comes from ancient Rome where it was often used at weddings for ritual purposes and in ancient Greece it was dedicated to the father of the gods Zeus, Artemis and Carya who was the daughter of King Dion. Often it was also regarded as a food of the gods and had an extremely high priority and among the ancient Celts it was associated with spring or the flowering period. Walnuts also had an important place in Norse mythology and were revered as a magical plant and it was often used by ancient cultures for healing purposes and it is interesting in many ways to extract tinctures from them, for example.
Thanks a lot for stopping by and I hope you like my new contribution! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens!
