opposition with Jupiter in Sagittarius at 19°.
This energy lasts into late June.

The theme of this pattern

Being over-confident and over-extended.

Who are the players
and what are they doing?

The Sun = your self-image, your essential being, your fundamental identity

Jupiter = expansion, luck, benevolence, optimism, generosity

Jupiter Oppositions = usually manifest through relationships, often show the results of having "too much of a good thing"

What's happening?

As oppositions go, this one can be more pleasant than most. Can be. No guarantees. It is the classic aspect of being over-confident and over-extended -- with too much going on for you to comfortably handle. But you feel really good about it all while it's happening, so I guess that's something. Things just seem to fall into place without much effort. Life sails along easily. But if things seem too good to be true -- well, you know the story.

It can be a time of exceptional luck -- or maybe even "a golden opportunity." But be careful what you believe without a lot of supporting proof and confirmation. Be careful what you commit to or promise -- because there's a good chance this situation will "grow" unexpectedly and you'll wind up in over your head. Be careful what you believe in the way of guarantees or claims from others. They may not be actually "lying" in the conventional sense -- although that's possible. But they could be caught up in this same excessive optimism.

So, don't be afraid to reap some of the benefits this energy offers, but be aware of the "catch" that could go along with it. This could also be a time when you learn what you're truly capable of when you're pushed to the limits. But the fact is you do have limits, so remember that, too.

It's hard not to look forward to this time -- which comes around every year, though I usually wind up with way too much to do -- even if it is all enjoyable. This year, however, @catweasel brought home the flu last week for us both to enjoy -- and keeping up with usual stuff has become a challenge. Everything is exhausting, and new plans, etc., are on hold. Life will pick up again and return to normal, I know. Meanwhile, it's frustrating. Your mileage may vary. Just be aware of what's happening -- and what you take on for a while.

What to expect?

  • Unusual opportunities or ideas or invitations for success, good fortune, benefits, advancement, etc., that really push your limits -- but the risks involved seem so worth it, so tempting ...

  • Feeling high on yourself, confident in your abilities, able to really do things and go places, etc., but you may grossly underestimate the amount of actual work this will take -- or (more likely) the project will grow beyond its initial limits. (Your ultimate benefits may grow as well -- but this "being in over your head" danger is something you can't just dismiss.)

  • A real possibility you'll take on projects you can't finish, make commitments you can't handle, make promises you can't keep -- despite all the good intentions you have and the integrity you can usually count on

  • Also, a danger of being conned into something by someone else running this scheme -- not maliciously, perhaps, but simply because he's caught up in the same wave of over-confidence ... with no idea what's really going on overhead. (You, however, have been warned ... so be aware!)

  • Being boastful, greedy, riding the crest of excessive self-importance and ambition -- or dealing with someone else (possibly a close friend or partner) who is. Either way, you're apt to get caught up in the mess and inconvenience when the situation unravels. (Again, just watch your step. This is an exercise in dealing with limits and boundaries -- because those can seem to disappear for a while.)
