Captain Trickle's crew are very loosely based on Firefly and their ship is called the Dronefly. I was asked if I could recreate it in 3D, going from these sketches by Miss Fixit - @catherine813.
As you can tell, it takes its inspiration from the early lifecycle of a drone fly, a maggot. Never one to pass up a challenge, I fired up Modo and set to work.
I quickly got the main body of the ship dialed in before trying to make sense of the side-mounted engines. Captain Trickle - @rhondak - seemed pleased with the progress so I shall add further details in the coming week.

Next, I was asked to create something similar to the J-type 327 Nubian royal starship from shudder The Phantom Menace, only with the shape of a manta ray as inspiration. Sure, why not?
This started from a cube and, using a top view of a manta ray, I created the basic shape in low res, pushing and pulling points, adding loops and then smoothing it all out to the result you see here.
I threw it over to Keyshot, added some materials and created this quick render.
