So you have a dollar and you are hungry... not like huge meal hungry but you want a bit of something to tide you over. Well, these sorts of noodle stands are pretty much everywhere and it is a staple of the overall dining experience in Thailand.
The primary focus of these places is normally "Gwai tee-ooh" or the white noodles but I actually prefer the yellow noodles which are "Baaah-Mee"... normally if they have one they have the other.
This dish you are looking at has noodles, some red pork, and some dumplings filled with pork. I don't know how they get the dumplings, they are almost certainly mass-produced and frozen (I dont know for sure) but they taste just fine.

When you order you need to be a bit patient because it can take upwards of 20 to 30 seconds for your food to arrive. It is that time consuming.
These noodle stands, generally speaking are not a chain (some of them are - but are still very small operations) and no matter which one you attend they will always be around ONE U.S. dollar to have a meal. As I said before... the portions are quite small but come on now! It costs one dollar, what do you expect??
All of these places generaly have free drinking water and there are normally spice racks on the tables with chilli powder and also fresh chilis so you can spice it up exactly how you see fit. This is a popular dish among drunks also since these places tend to be open very late (I know this only because one of my many wonderful qualities is that I am also a drunk.)
So if you see a noodle stand while you are visiting Thailand (and you will, they are everywhere) rest easy. It is delicious, consistently well-made, cheap, and easy.... no matter where you are.
