how to Draw a Girl (little Tutorial)

Today i just wana share with you guys a quick sketch that i did of a girl, i didnt really spent much time on this piece due to my busy schedules. But i hope this little idea helps some one though, in this drawing i will show you or rather tell you how i achieved the braids on her hair, well their are different patterns to this but i just decided to make mine simple.

  • Below is the FINISHED work which took me almost 35minute to draw, but my advice to up coming artist don't try this on a commission work, commission works usually take me up to 2 weeks or 1 week depending on my schedule and the complexity of the work

  • Materials used for this work are:
    -charcoal pencil on paper
-Eraser, cotton bud, artist paint brush etc

Below are the progress shots

Before you draw always get an outline of what you wana draw, its one of the guidlines to achieveing a good sketch you can't just jupm into the main work, start from somewhere except if you're a professional like me😁😁

In drawing the braids like i said earlier on, drawing of braids have different pattern or style but like the pattern i used here was, i drew series of lines to form an intersection between one hair and another parallel to each other, then after that i drew a diagonal line on those intersection to give it a unique Partern.
-After this process i darken the intersection line just to give it a form of shade by also applying the principle of tonal gradation
-As you can see in the image below you would see a thick dark line in between each braids, and also at the edges i darkened it to give it a good shade
-while shading i move from dark to light

At this point i added shade to the hair on the forehead, to achieve this i made use of the shading technique called hatching ////////.
  • like in the right side of the hair you would see how i hatched it i was moving from dark to light

Sometimes i make use of the artist paint brush to blend shades on my work its quiet faster.
i tend to scarp graphite from my pencil into a powder form then i use my paint brush to apply on the surface of the work with care.

Safety Tips

  • 1 when shading ensure a paper is below your palm so as to avoid your hand prints on the work.
-2 Before you start a work ensure your hands are properly clean if possible wash you hands with soap 😁 because dirty hands can staine sensitive areas of your work
-3 avoid to much pressure on your paper
-4 When you get tired try and rest
-5 Avoid eating or drinking while working😁😁
Just a short story.....i was working on a commission work and my mum came into my room complaining that my food would soon get cold, at that point all i could think of was to finish the project in front of me i lost apatite at that point. But all of a sudden mum brought JOLLOF RICE and chicken πŸ” (jollof rice is a popular meal in Nigeria) to my room where i was working. When i saw the meal the aroma took my breath awayπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ before i knew it i messed up a work which took me a days to doπŸ˜•πŸ€§. It was a sad moment for me, i was eating the food just for eating sake but at that point i was so unhappy.
-6 Avoid distractions from any angle
