Saturday in the South means that the whole worlds stands still while College Football kicks off. Marching bands, State Rivalries, pretty cheerleaders and of course football.
I am listening to the Auburn vs. Georgia game, billed as the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry. Now, in case you are wondering the South is divided between the Deep South and the Upper South and then the Border States and then there is Texas.
Texans like to remind anyone who will listen and even if they do not want to listen, Texans will remind everyone that once, Texas was an Independent Republic. Yes Texas is in the South BUT Texans like to tell everyone they are still different.
Enough, football but not enough about sports as I am drinking tonight an IPA brewed by R&D Brewing of Raleigh, North Carolina.
I am very impressed with R&D Brewing's business model. R&D brews beers for a number of Colleges and Local Professional Teams that are sold at the stadiums on game days and available for every tailgate party in North Carolina.
Appalachian State's Official beer brewed by . . . R&D Brewing.
Wake Forest University's Official beer brewed by . . . R&D Brewing.
The Official Beer of the Durham Bulls, a Minor League Baseball Team, brewed by . . . R&D Brewing.
R&D Brewing also brews beer for East Carolina University and the Carolina Hurricanes, North Carolina's NHL franchise.
I am just impressed with the business model. The beer tends to be lighter than most Craft Beers to appeal to a broader range of tastes.
Although, the Bull Durham beer is a wonderful Kolsch that has the @handofzara's full #beersaturday approval.
BEER NAME: Seven Saturdays
STYLE: India Pale Ale
ABV: 6.2%
BREWER: R&D Brewing of Raleigh, North Carolina
APPEARANCE: golden, pours with a medium head slightly cloudy
AROMA: citrus and hops
TASTE: grapefruit and mango with a hint of bitters in the hops
MOUTHFEEL: medium body, carbonates well, the bitters hit first followed by sweetness of the mango
Overall a nice IPA, not a "hop head" brew but smooth and touches all the bases.
As I am putting the finishing touches on this post, Georgia just scored a Touchdown in the Fourth Quarter to take the lead.
Time for a little more football and a little more beer.
Georgia won the game 27-20, Go Dawgs!
See y'all next #beersaturday.
