Have you ever visited an art exhibition? I didn't until I was 25 years old and this year was the first time I went to an art exhibition. There were some impressive things and I am very happy that I did it. I would love to share this experience with you.

I was walking around with my brother and saw this poster. Two Voyagers of Image exhibition by Nejad Devrim and Mürin Orhon. I had never been to an exhibition before so I asked my brother to go, it was free and he agreed so we went in together. It was really crowded inside. Both locals and tourists were visiting the exhibition, I think it was so crowded because it was one of the first days of the exhibition.

The exhibition is full of works by the two artists I mentioned above that bridge Turkish culture and European culture on the centennial of the Republic. The curator of the exhibition wrote that this was a great courage. I'm sorry I forgot to take a photo of the article. Many of the works, including this one, were untitled, so if I don't share the name with you, consider it untitled.

This painting by Nejad Devrim is oil on canvas. As I walked around here, I thought a lot about what the artist wanted to tell us. Each person has their own world of imagination. This painting reminded me of the earthquake. I feel as if I am seeing the collapsed buildings. After the big earthquake in our country, my subconscious mind may have made me think of this.

I don't want to share only my own thoughts. For example, what does this work remind you of? Here I see the sky, a snowy mountain and trees. By the way, the frame of the painting looks incredible. I would love to have something like this in my house.

What do you see in this oil painting? The artist called it English Landscape. I know someone who lives in England will read this post, but I don't want to tag her. Is your landscape really like this, Pauline? 😅

Everyone sees different things in paintings. I heard a lot of people there talking about the paintings and thinking completely different things. This painting is called The Dragon. I don't see a dragon or anything like that in the painting. I should probably make it look like that blue line, but I can't. Can anyone see it?

Most of the paintings in the exhibition were surreal and since they were untitled, everything is left to our imagination. My brother stood in front of these two paintings for a long time and said he didn't understand anything haha.

This painting is called Domes of Baghdad and it is a tribute to Jean Messagier, a French painter. Considering that this painting was painted in 1970, I think it looks perfect. I don't know how the colors can remain so vivid after so many years.

This one is called Roosevelt Island Bridge. It is also a painting by Nejad Devrim. I don't know if you noticed, but the colors of the paintings and the walls behind them are very harmonious. Congratulations to whoever thought of this. I told this to my brother when I was leaving the exhibition and he didn't notice this detail at all.

Maybe you can see what I am talking about more clearly from this angle. There are matching paintings on a yellow wall. It's perfect!

Mr. Nejad painted Uzbekistan in this painting. You can see mosques and minarets. I don't understand what the things at the top of the painting symbolize. Does anyone have any idea?

These paintings don't have a name either. I think painters have a very difficult time naming their paintings. For example, if you were to give these paintings a name, what would it be? I would name the first painting Behind Bars. I feel like it's about how someone in prison sees the world outside as a rosy picture. Actually, the world outside is terrible too, but he/she sees it that way because he/she's not free.

I'm not going to lie, I like this kind of painting better because I can clearly see what is happening in the painting. Who hasn't seen the Château de Versailles? In other paintings I use my imagination to understand what is in the painting, in this one I imagine what I see in the painting.

I guess you didn't think an artist wouldn't paint his wife? Nejat Devrim painted his wife Maria Devrim. There are good details in the painting, but I guess oil painting is not the best way to show the details in a painting.

The artist painted Büyükada here. In one he painted the inside of a house and in the other the fishermen catching fish. I wish I could paint this well. I can't even draw the smallest circle properly, so I respect painters a lot.

Here is a tourist examining the paintings. Just kidding, he is my brother haha. It was his first time at an art exhibition and he wanted to immortalize this moment. He even shared this photo on Instagram.

I usually include paintings in my photos but here is one with people. The exhibition consisted of rooms and there were 15-20 people in this room alone.

There were also Mübin Orhon's works on the upper floor of the exhibition. Acrylic and oil paintings on canvas. One of my favorite photographs of this exhibition is the last photograph here. It reminded me of seeing the window of your house on a cold winter day. We all love this feeling.

Before we left the exhibition, my brother and I wanted to immortalize this moment by having a photo taken next to our favorite paintings. He posed in a very serious pose and I look a bit awkward. Still, my girlfriend liked this photo. Maybe it's because she loves me very much, you know love blinds the eyes.

Kardeşimle dolaşırken bu afişi gördük. Nejad Devrim ve Mürin Orhon'un İki İmge Yolcusu sergisi. Daha önce hiç bir sergiye gitmediğim için kardeşime gitmeyi teklif ettim, zaten ücretsizdi ve o da kabul edince birlikte içeri girdik. İçerisi gerçekten kalabalıktı. Hem yerliler hem de turistler sergiyi ziyaret ediyordu, serginin ilk günlerinden biri olduğu için bu kadar kalabalık olduğunu düşünüyorum.

Sergi Cumhuriyet'in yüzüncü yılında yukarıda bahsettiğim iki sanatçının Türk kültürü ve Avrupa kültürünü bir köprüyle birleştirdiği eserlerle dolu. Serginin küratörünün orada paylaştığı yazıda bunun büyük bir cesaret olduğu yazıyordu. Yazının fotoğrafını çekmeyi unuttuğum için üzgünüm. Bu da dahil olmak üzere eserlerin birçoğu, isimsizdi, bu yüzden eğer sizlerle ismini paylaşmıyorsam bunun isimsiz olduğu düşünün.

Nejad Devrim'in bu tablosu tuval üzerine yağlı boya. Burada dolaşırken sanatçının bize ne anlatmak istediği üzerine çok düşündüm. Her insanın kendi hayal dünyası var. Bu tablo bana depremi anımsattı. Sanki yıkılan binaları görüyormuş gibi hissediyorum. Ülkemizde olan büyük depremden sonra bilinçaltım bana bunu düşündüren şey olabilir.

Sadece kendi düşüncelerimi paylaşmak istemem. Örneğin bu eser size neyi anımsattı? Ben burada gökyüzü, karlı bir dağ ve ağaçları görüyorum. Bu arada resmin çerçevesi inanılmaz görünüyor. Bu tarz şeylerden evimde olsun çok isterdim.

Bu yağlıboya tablosunda ne görüyorsunuz? Sanatçı onu İngiliz Manzarası olarak adlandırmış. İngiltere'de yaşayan birinin bu postu okuyacağını biliyorum ama onu etiketlemek istemiyorum. Manzaranız gerçekten böyle mi Pauline? 😅

Herkesin tablolarda gördüğü şeyler farklı. Orada pek çok insanın tablolar üzerine konuşurken tamamen farklı şeyler düşündüğünü duydum. Bu tablonun adı Ejderha. Tabloda ben ejderha ya da ona benzer bir şey göremiyorum. Muhtemelen o mavi çizgiyi benzetmem gerekiyor ama yapamıyorum. Görebilen var mı?

Serginin çoğu sürreal tablolardı ve isimsiz oldukları için her şey bizim hayal gücümüze kalıyor. Kardeşim bu iki tablonun önünde uzun süre durdu ve hiçbir şey anlamadığını söyledi haha.

Bu tablonun adı Bağdat'ın Kubbeleri Fransız bir ressam olan Jean Messagier'e ithafen yapılmış. Bu tablonun 1970 yılında yapıldığını düşünürsek bence mükemmel görünüyor. Nasıl olur da renkler yıllar sonra da bu denli canlı kalabiliyor bilmiyorum

Bunun adı Roosevelt Adası Köprüsü. Yine Nejad Devrim tarafından yapılmış bir tablo. Fark ettiniz mi bilmiyorum ama tablolarla arkasındaki duvarların renkleri çok uyumlu. Bunu kim düşündüyse tebrik ederim. Ben sergiden çıkarken bunu kardeşime söyledim ve o bu detayı hiç fark etmemiş.

Belki de bu açıdan bahsettiğim şeyi daha net görebilirsiniz. Sarı bir duvarda ona uyumlu tablolar var. Mükemmel!

Nejad bey bu tablosunda Özbekistan'ı resmetmiş. Tabloda camileri ve minareleri görebilirsiniz. Tablonun üst kısmındaki şeylerin neyi imgelediğini ise anlayamadım. Bir fikri olan var mı?

Bu tabloların da bir ismi yok. Ressamların tablolarını isimlendirirken çok zorlandığını düşünüyorum. Örneğin siz bu tablolara bir isim verecek olsanız bu ne olurdu? Ben ilk tabloya Parmaklıklar Ardında ismini verebilirdim. Tıpkı hapisteki birinin dışarıdaki dünyayı nasıl toz pembe gördüğünü anlatıyor gibi hissediyorum. Aslında dışarıdaki dünya da berbat ama o özgür olmadığı için dış dünyayı böyle görüyor.

Yalan söylemeyeceğim, bu tarz tabloları daha çok seviyorum çünkü resimde ne olduğunu net bir şekilde görebiliyorum. Versailles Şatosu'nu görmeyen var mı? Diğer tablolarda da hayal gücümü tabloda ne olduğunu anlamak için kullanıyorum, bunda ise tabloda gördüğüm şeyi hayal ediyorum.

Bir ressamın eşini resmetmeyeceğini düşünmemiştiniz herhalde? Nejat Devrim eşi Maria Devrim'i resmetmiş. Tabloda iyi detaylar ama galiba yağlıboya resimdeki detayları göstermek için en iyi yöntem değil.

Sanatçı burada Büyükada'yı resmetmiş. Bir tanesinde bir evin içini ve diğerinde de balıkçıların tuttuğu balıkçıları. Keşke bu kadar iyi resim yapabilsem. En ufak bir daireyi bile doğru dürüst çizemiyorum bu yüzden ressamlara çok saygı duyuyorum.

İşte tabloları inceleyen bir turist. Şaka yapıyorum, o benim kardeşim haha. Kendisi de ilk defa sanat sergisine geldiği için bu anı ölümsüzleştirmek istedi. Bu fotoğrafı İnstagram'da paylaştı bile.

Fotoğraflarımda genelde tablolara yer verdim ama işte insanların olduğu bir tane. Sergi odalardan oluşuyordu ve sadece bu odada bile 15-20 insan vardı.

Serginin üst katında da Mübin Orhon'un eserleri vardı. Tuval üzerine akrilik ve yağlıboya eserler. Bu serginin en sevdiğim fotoğraflarından bir tanesi buradaki son fotoğraf. Bana soğuk bir kış gününde evinizin penceresini görmeyi anımsattı. Bu hissi hepimiz severiz.

Sergiden ayrılmadan önce kardeşimle en sevdiğimiz tabloların yanında birer fotoğraf çektirip bu anı ölümsüzleştirmek istedik. O çok ciddi bir poz vermiş, ben ise biraz garip görünüyorum. Yine de kız arkadaşım bu fotoğrafı beğendi. Belki de beni çok sevdiği içindir, bilirsiniz aşk gözleri kör eder.
