Surely, many of you have already seen news of the latest events on the Korean Peninsula.
My friends from different countries call or write to me, and the first question is no longer the usual “How are you?”, And “Are you united with the North?”, “Your presidents really met?”, Well, etc.
So, I decided to dedicate today's post to politics, which I understand poorly, despite the fact that my second higher education is connected with politics and international relations. Well, okay! Today, it is not necessary to be a politician to talk about it.

Let's start from the beginning. I have once written an article on Steemit about relations between North and South Koreas, about how it happened that one nation divided into two parts, like brothers fighting each other.
The warming in relations between the two countries began after the inauguration of the new South Korean President Moon Zhe In . At first, two countries and one nation performed under the common flag at the Winter Olympics in Phenchan, which took place in South Korea earlier this year. Then the leaders of the two countries met at the border of the two states.

Recently, a meeting was again organized for separated families. It was the first meeting after years. According to the data, more than 130 thousand people belonging to the so-called “separated families” are registered in South Korea. Of these, more than 50% have already died, and not having had time to see their family at least once, which remained on the other side of the border.
This meeting was attended by 100 people from South Korea. Read the news, and could not hold back tears. The 91-year-old South Korean met her daughters, who are about 70 years old. They broke up 70 years ago. Again they were able to embrace each other's brother and sister, who are already over 85 years old. At 92, her mother finally managed to embrace her son, who is already 71 years old. This list goes on and on.

My daughter left home in the morning, saying that she would go to Seoul and return in the evening. And in the afternoon they suddenly announced that the border was closed between the South and the North.A similar phrase comes from the lips of many divided families ...
The war between the South and the North dragged on for a long time; the heads of both states once decided to establish a temporary truce and draw a temporary border between the states. That is, the war has not really been stopped until now. And only recently, during the regular meeting of the two heads of state, an agreement was signed on the termination of martial law.

In addition, a direct link between North and South Korea is now established. A week ago, the president of South Korea visited North. During his performance at the stadium in front of hundreds of thousands of northerners, he said that the two countries were united for more than 5 thousand years, and they lived only 70 years apart. So they are one nation. These words will probably be remembered by everyone for many years.
The President of South Korea and his wife bowed (as expected according to Korean traditions) to everyone, even the simple workers of the restaurant. A low bow is a sign of respect.
In general, Moon Jae Ying is famous for its simplicity. He does not ask his subordinates to bring him coffee, and refuses when they help him put on his jacket, saying that he can do all this himself. He can sit at the same table with ordinary visitors to the simplest cafe in Korea. He greets simple workers.

Leaders and first ladies of both countries climbed the sacred mountain Pektusan. But probably the most significant event was the planting of a tree - a pine tree, which grew when the Korean War ended. For planting the tree used the land from the dormant volcano Hallasan on Jeju Island. President Moon Jae Ying poured pine from water from the North Korean Tedongan River, and Kim Jong Un from the South Korean Hang River. A tree has a sign with the words "Peace and prosperity is planted here."
Many, probably, have already heard that Kim Jong-un sent a gift of 2 tons of expensive mushrooms, the price per kilogram of which is about $ 900. These mushrooms were donated to divided families.
According to Mun Jhe In, the leader of North Korea will visit Seoul this year. So we continue to follow the events on the Korean Peninsula.
