Well, today is the day, I've left my 20's and entered the strange new world of the 30's. While I don't feel different today, I think it'll sink in soon enough; the 30 club isn't too bad, and I think up to now I've accomplished a fair few things, and the road is still long ahead of me.
Over the last few years I've noticed a few grey hairs in my beard, but none on my head yet, but I'm sure in the coming years that'll all change.
Kaleb got me this little mini Lego ship, which is pretty cool. It'll be great in a few year's time when the two of us would be able to make them together.
It actually reminds me of some little Lego ships my dad used to pick me up years ago, I really need to get into the attic and root them out, if the instruction booklets aren't around anymore, I'm sure I'll be able to find PDFs online for them.
The Plan For The Day
Things were meant to be a little bit different, I was expecting a mate of mine to be over from England but things changed and he couldn't make it, which is fine as these things happen. We've rearranged for him to come over around Halloween so that should be fun, and we'll be able to have a nice catch-up.
His birthday is coming up next week, so I decided to fix up an old laptop I have for him and gift it to him since he wants to get on Hive. That was going to be something we were going to do this week, for now though, it'll have to wait.
Another friend from college is coming down for the weekend which will be fun, as I haven't seen him in a while and when he gets here I'm going to help set him up on Hive, he loves film, gaming, and music - he writes reviews and stuff so I think he'll fit into some of the communities here.
I think since the others aren't going to be about, I'm just going to have a chill one and a meal or something and save myself for this Saturday.
This Saturday
I've not had much time in the last few weeks to do much organising, but I booked upstairs of a pub in town where we play pretty regularly.
It'll be a good meetup, and for that night my partner's parents are minding Kaleb so it gives us a night to have a few drinks and all without having to get home early with him.
We're going to get up and play some songs as the covers, and then I think DDSE are going to get up and do a few songs too, and then Pineto Cats are going to get up and play a set, once they're finished we're just going to throw a playlist on Spotify or something for the end of it, and since there'll be people coming from out of town we're going to put people up at the house, which will most likely mean there'll be a bit of an after session here.
Pre-party Gig
We played a gig on Tuesday here in town, and one of the organisers of a bit of an open-air gig saw us at it and reached out today asking if we'd be interested in a slot from 4-5 at the gig on Saturday, which we accepted.
Delighted to be asked really, and it's always great to get ourselves out there and open ourselves up to more gigs and events, especially now that our set has expanded. It'll mean that Saturday may end up being a bit more hectic than I would have liked, but at least we just need to bring our instruments and breakables for the kit to the gig, rather than supplying a bunch of stuff for it.
Presents
People were asking me what I wanted and I just gave everyone the same answer, "Nothing." There really is nothing I need or want, and I never think about it when coming up to Birthdays and whatever, but in the end I just said maybe give me some money and I'll put it aside and wait until I come across something I'd like to buy myself.
I suppose I could do with some new clothes, and I've got some more Star Wars stuff I want to pick up, so I'll see how things go.
