It's the first of the month, which means it's time to increase my stake on this great chain and put a bit more 'skin in the game.' I've been here for about a year and 9 months, and it took me the best part of 10 months to hit 1,000 HP naturally.
Reaching 1,100 HP in September 2022
This time last year I powered up by 140 Hive, which brought my total up to 1,100HP, and at the time I thought that was pretty amazing. It took almost 10 months to get to that level, and due to powering up each month, buying when I could, and posting in general, I have managed to hit 7,000HP in only one year.
As I've noticed over the last year, with each major gain in my stake, I've steadily increased my HP at a rate I wouldn't have been able to back then. There are, of course, a few reasons for that.
When I started out in December 2021, Hive was sitting somewhere in the range of $1.20 dollars. So, that means for every $6 Dollars earned, I was getting around 5 Hive. But, since the price drop, that same amount earned has allowed me to earn somewhere in the ballpark of 15 Hive, currently, Hive is sitting at around $0.28 cent, so for every $100 I spend buying Hive, I'm receiving about 370 of them, and have the intention of powering it all up.
I'm not made of money, but I think compared to the fun I've had here, the people I've met, and the time in the future I'll be spending here, the money is worth it. In fact, I don't really see it as spending money on Hive, I see it as swapping those pesky Euros into Hive. To me, this is a savings account, and any assets I have here are just that, and at that, they're worth more to me here in the sense that I know that they'll increase in value over time, and even if it doesn't increase any time soon, the accumulation through APR and Curation APR is a great incentive to keep it in my account.
Everything Is Going Good
The baby is doing great, I've been wanting to write a post about him as a kind of update on how he's doing, but sadly, I've had a bit of an issue uploading pictures here, so that post will have to wait a little while more.
My writing is going strong; I had a bit of an unintentional hiatus from writing fiction which took me about a month to get back into.
As you may know, I write a lot of Short Stories, and World Building Notes about a science fiction galaxy I've been creating. The Short Stories are a lot of fun and help to do some world-building from the ground level, while I use the World Building Notes posts as a way of building from a bird's eye view of the settings that make up the place.
The unintentional hiatus happened due to a few things; my mind was elsewhere to a certain extent, but it wasn't far from the world itself. In fact, I was focusing on a different aspect of writing entirely.
See, I have this idea I want to try out with some of the stories, but there are a few things I have to do to get myself prepared for this next stage; the evolution of my writing; the thing that will hopefully increase my reach, and attract some new eyes.
However, I don't want to talk about this idea yet, as there are a few more things I have to do. Other projects, other ideas, and in general just a few things that are occupying most of my time as of late.
As I mentioned before, I've written a novel too and I have been editing it where possible, to prepare it for publishing as a book, however, due to my time being skewed with multiple things, I haven't been able to fully commit and dedicate myself to it. But, hopefully, that'll change soon.
I've been speaking with someone here on Hive, as an attempt to get them involved in the project as an editor who might be able to help me out. They told me that fiction isn't the realm of their expertise, however, they do know someone who works in that field and has offered to make some inquiries, most importantly, they're going to find out if Sci-Fi is something they would be interested in working on. When I have the answer, and if the genre is acceptable I'll be opening up my own communications with them and will discuss mulla; the price of something like this can vary a fair bit, I'm hoping though that my own efforts in the edit of the novel may be enough to warrant a lower price.
Less editing = More work = More money.
While my own editing isn't the best, it is in a pretty readable state, which will hopefully mean that I may not have to pay as much to whoever decides to join me in getting this thing published.
On With The Power-up
While starting out today, my HP was 6,200.890, which is a pretty nice even number, and at that, I only need 800 Hive to blast myself up to a whopping 7k Hive Power!
In the early days of Hive I saw people votes, and power, and dreamt of someday having that much, as I'm sure many of us have. I'm not even talking about whale levels of HP, but even slightly lower than what I'm at now. In saying that though, even while being at this level, I'm still looking to the future and increasing my holdings further.
After spending 200 Euros I was able to pick up a fair few Hive, and at a pretty decent price. Currently, I have 857.245 sitting in my account waiting to be powered up, however, I won't be going all in this month, and I'm going to just put enough in to reach the 7,000HP, on the button.
While I would like to throw everything I got into my power, I just want to hold back that little bit extra. There are a few things I like buying on Hive Engine, and for that reason, I like to have a little bit sitting around waiting.
Powering up by 799.110 is a bit of a weird number, and while my bit of OCD would like to throw in an even 800, I opted to create the round number after my power-up.
I wanted to stick to trying to power up by 1k a month if it were possible, but with a lot going on prior to August, and during it I wasn't really able to.
Isn't it magnificent! I'm at a level now I didn't really think possible, so in a way, I'm happy that there have been price drops here and there, and I'm also really happy I've been able to continue my daily posting, as each post has pushed my closer to my extended goal.
Goals
I have had the intention to reach 10k by Christmas, and personally, I think it's very achievable should everything go well.
Currently through curation APR, and general APR, and my daily posting, I'm earning somewhere in the ballpark of 300-350 Hive a month. So, should I continue this, and maybe put another 200 Euros towards it, I should hit 10k by the 1st of December! At that point, I will be nearly 20% of the way to Orca, which is insane, especially considering I became a Dolphin only 2 months ago.
Having A Larger Stake
With great power, comes a lot of benefits; it allows me to give back to others by casting better votes, as well as that and most importantly, it gives my voice a bit more weight, where I can help by voting and in a way have more of a say about how Hive expands. Obviously, not as much of a say as many others out there, but I still have more of a say than I had when I started.
