The Doshan Class System (World Building Notes)

The other day I wrote a post about the Doshan homeworld and I went into some detail about their culture, and who they are as a people. After getting to the end of that post and publishing it, I had a lot more ideas floating around for ideas for them and their homeworld Dosha. So, I thought I'd write another post centred around them, as a semi-continuation.

Here's The Post If You'd Like To Check It Out.

The Doshan Class System
As I mentioned in the previous post, a Doshans life is determined by what they work as when they reach the age of 100, which is the equivalent to 18 in Human years.

Their value is based on how much value they bring back to their homeworld, either by going out among the stars and learning something that can be brought back to their own world, in the form of information, ideas, or technological know-how.

People throughout the ages have come back to their world with thoughts and ideas learned from other cultures that were then put into effect by the heads of their world and some ideas were good enough to shape their own culture and traditions, but now without the ideas being shaped to suit themselves prior to being incorporated.

Taques
This class of Doshan makes it their life's purpose to leave their homeworld in search of adventure. Anyone given this last name would typically find themselves exploring Free Space, in search of uncharted regions; they push the bounds of the known Galaxy and feel compelled to find something new and in doing so, there have been remarkable breakthroughs in the field of medicine due to finding new species of plants and animal life.

As I mentioned in the previous post, Mulrire are the caretakers of their world, and anyone with that last name would find themselves raising the children of their world, and when the time comes, it's the Mulrire who assign Doshans to their profession, which is worn is identifiable in the form of their last name they're given.

Taques are often taken aboard spacecraft and work while traveling, as a way to move freely to many different places learning as they go.

Joskitus
This class of Doshan makes it their goal to learn most kinds of musical instruments they can, as a way to express themselves and use creativity to expand their culture, while also incorporating and learning from other talented artists through the known Galaxy.

But, they do not just learn music, instead, they spend 20 or so years nailing down and gaining an understanding of many different forms of art, before they commit themselves to a particular focus.

Nearly every Doshan Actor is a Joskitus, and are usually heralded for their talents in that line of work. There have been a lot of great actors, musicians, poets, artists, and writers over the years who have expanded the average person's knowledge of their people, and culture.

However, there are also a lot of Joskitus who focus their attention on the act of love, seduction, and entertainment in a completely different nature, which in a way, has smeared this class of Doshan as little more than prostitutes, and because to most Off-Worlders, these types of Joskitus are the most well known, there is a misconception that all Doshan are like this.

Quellitor

The Quellitor were the Doshan backbone when it comes to warfare, and throughout the ages, they have been known to be used in every type of situation, from espionage, and infiltration, to protection and private security.

Their class was transitioned out of the Doshan culture over the course of centuries, as there was less and less need, or work for them on Dosha. Any Doshans who were Quellitor around the time of the phase-out had gone far away in order to secure work of any kind, and by anyone who required skilled warriors, and who could afford them.

By the time The Confederation fleet arrived to Dosha, most of these people were spread out amongst the stars, leaving Dosha with no standing army, and no tacticians of any kind. Being essentially defenseless during the conflict meant that The Confederation received no opposition whatsoever, and it became a common joke that the worst soldiers were sent to Dosha, based on how easy of a job it was. These comments were mostly spoken because of jealousy no doubt.

There was a great migration of Doshans who came back to their world during these times, many of them being Quellitors who were all on the older side because of the phase-out. But, this small, yet mighty force was able to bolster their people and help defend their world.

Now, new Quellitors are being assigned these roles, mainly due to Galactic instability. These people often find themselves as mercenaries, private security, or peacekeepers through Free Space.
