Hello, Steemit!
At work with the onset of cold weather, more and more birds began to fly to us. It is a pity for the birds, since it’s somehow very difficult to feed them in the city, so we try to feed them a little. Bright-paunchy bullfinches are not yet visible, but there are a lot of nimble titmouses.
I decided to spend my regular lunch break with benefit, taking with me a watercolor and a sketchbook. And I drew, while the inspiring nature with grateful chirping cracked down on treats from the feeder at my window.
First, I drew the contours of the drawing with a pencil.
I painted over the branch of the tree on which the titmouse is sitting. Used «ocher yellow», «umber burnt» and «gray payne» colors.
Moved to the bird. Painted the plumage with cadmium yellow and ultramarine.
Gradually I increased the detailing by adding more and more fine lines, imitating small plumage. In the shade I put a mixture of burnt umber with ultramarine. Made the contours of the drawing translucent to convey the lightness of the picture.
At the final stage, strengthened the detailing, added contrast by the shadows, and emphasized the brightness of the bird plumage. With umber burnt and black paint reinforced the shadows on a tree branch. In some places, the drawing was washed away with a clean brush without paint for a smooth transition of colors and shadows. My picture is ready.
Since I did not have the task to draw a documented detailed illustration, I drew a light watercolor sketch.
