GM

It has been quite a while since anything new has come from the @gmfrens project, and that is for a few reasons. Number 1 - I'm not a developer. I have said this from the very beginning, and I have also stated that this whole thing is an experiment. Number 2 - The main developer that was working with me to build a fucking incredible tool for the WAX ecosystem, with $GM at the heart, is MIA (can't get in touch for months). Number 3 - I have been insanely busy with my Amazon business.

These are not excuses, they are facts. Not having a developer for WAX stuff really puts me in a shitty position with the project. WAX devs are rare and very expensive, but if you happen to know anyone that might be willing to help in exchange for crypto and such... Let me know. With that being said, all hope is not lost. GM:FRENS is not going anywhere. This just means we have to shift directions a tad. After all, we are a community and we will make decisions together. We have a DAO for voting.

You might have noticed that weekly $GM rewards have not been sent in a little over a month. This is largely in part to the fact that it is still manual (no dev, no automation), and I am not sure how to make this process easier at the moment. The really shitty part is that the tool we were building was going to be complete within a month or 2... We just have to be willing to accept change, and continue spreading positivity through our daily GMs to our frens.

For now, distribution of tokens will be done once a month. Everyone that has been using the #gmfrens tag will get their rewards owed along with a bonus amount of GM that is currently undecided. I know this sucks, but I can't physically keep up with it anymore. It's just not feasible, at least with the $GM token on the WAX blockchain. You might still be confused as to why it exists on WAX, and not on Hive Engine... Simple. I have experience with WAX and have been using it for years. I had no experience with Hive Engine tokens or NFTs.

Wat do?

Well, that's a great question. I've literally been thinking about this every day for months now. Trying to figure out how to keep pushing forward. I'm a one-man army at this point, and I'm ok with that. I won't let me project die. We have to grow. This is all part of the growth cycle. Unfortunately, it's not the path forward that I imagined 3 months ago, but it is what it is.

If you read the article linked above, you'll see that I talked about all of this in a joking manner (the article was an April Fool's joke) because at that point I was confident in the direction of the project... The more serious parts of the article revolve around growing.

GM means so much more than just Good Morning. GM means unity. GM means happiness. GM means Grow More.

The process of growing is never easy, and usually involves letting go of things. Much like when a flower grows and starts to bloom, the plant physically changes. Some even lose leaves. If the plant does not grow, it will not bloom. It will simply die.

So we have to accept the current state of the project for what it is, and figure out what to do from here. I have plenty ideas, and ultimately I will leave this up to you guys. Where are we at right now? Well, we have a culture of people saying GM on Threads, which hopefully lasts for a very long time. We have a huge collection of NFTs that do different things, such as mining GM, and blending. We have minted over 1800 NFTs and have over 130 people holding them.

With this massive amount of NFTs, people can stake them in farms to earn $GM, blend them, and hopefully more in the future. This is why I love NFTs on WAX so much. There's already so much tooling available for a non-wizard like myself to be able to create all kinds of cool shit. The same really can't be said about NFTs on Hive Engine (yet). I've been playing with the idea of migrating half of the supply of $GM to Hive Engine, and getting the @gmfrens bot to distribute GM automatically that way.

If we do migrate half the supply of GM over to Hive Engine, this really opens the doors for more users. A ton of users on Hive have no idea anything about WAX, so there's a learning curve for sure. This also kinda bridges the gap between WAX & Hive for GM:FRENS. Maybe in the future we could even have a sort of bridge/burn mechanism to move GM from one chain to the other. There's a lot we can do with this.

The heart of this project is you. The people that show up every day, spread the GMs, and promote positivity. A lot of the world is in a very negative place right now, and I like to think that something as simple as saying Good Morning to someone can really make a difference. Every day, we wake up to something challenging. Every day we face issues, we face struggles, and we face adversity. The key to pushing through all of this is your mindset. Even if you're going through tough shit... Never stop smiling.
