Now that I refreshed your mind I continue with the process of digital colouring this girl and her horse 😉
One of the methods I've been practising lately is this one of drawing the lighting values with greyscale before applying the colours.

Then you apply the flat colours in another layer, this very good as you can change them to whaterver you like and lighting values will remain no mater the underlying colours.

And then you mix both layers, in this case I made the Values layer multiply over the Flat colours one, resulting in this nicely coloured image with shadows and highlights.
